The Offer
- The Chase AARP card is now offering a sign up bonus of $200 when you spend $500 within the first three months of account opening. The card also earns 3% cash back on restaurants and gas stations.
The Fine Print
- No annual fee
- Introductory APR of 0% for the first twelve months
- Chase donates $0.10 for every restaurant purchase to the AARP Foundation in 2015 (up to a maximum of $1,000,000), I suspect this will be extended for 2016 as well
- Card earns at the following rates:
- 3% cash back on restaurant & gas station purchase
- 1% cash back on all other purchases
F.A.Q
Do I need An AARP Membership To Apply For This Card?
No this field can be left blank.
This Card Earns Points, Can They Be Transferred To Airline Partners?
No, unlike the Chase Freedom card this card does not earn Chase Ultimate Rewards points which are transferable with a premium Chase card (e.g Chase Ink Plus or Chase Sapphire Preferred). Points are basically just good for cash back at a rate of one point = one penny.
Is This Card Effected By The New Chase Churning Rules?
No, it’s not. You can get this card as long as you haven’t gotten the bonus in the past 24 months. Those rules do not effect co-branded credit cards.
Our Verdict
$200 is one of the better cash credit card sign up bonuses. In addition to this it’s nice to have a 3% cash back card for restaurant purchases, as that’s currently the best you can get on a consistent basis (can somebody please release a 5% card for restaurant purchases year round?). There are cards that are better for gas purchases and non bonus-ed spend, so I’d be getting this card exclusively for the sign up bonus and restaurant option.
I always need some more cash and with Chase tightening their churning rules, I’m less worried about over applying for their cards so I’m going to jump on this offer. Obviously not everybody is in the same position as me, so only you can decide if it’s the right offer for you.

I was trying to apply this card..but unfortunately, the link is dead.. When you click in APPLY NOW, it said: “Offer Unavailable”
It appears the $200.00 signup bonus link is toast, but I did find a $100.00 signup bonus version:

thanks for the link!
HARD credit bureau pull – Experian
So says the credit monitoring alert service that I use
Chase had this on my master profile inside a few hours. I have already set my monthly payment method.
AARP Visa instantly approved but at 40% CL of my other Chase cards. (in total, I applied for five cards in a week – this was number three) I was debating calling in about that, but do not want to screw with my other two Chase Freedom cards. The card has arrived about five days after applying. I paid five utility bills upon receipt and security wanted to know what was going on. I have yet to manufacture any spending.
Any idea how much risk that I would be taking if I called in an asked about the CL? IF I wait six months, would I stand a better chance of a CL?
I am sitting on five hard pulls on two credit bureaus … all this year. Possibly a couple more this week. I have two rejection snail mails from other issuers coming. FICO8 about 720+
Some links to this offer have expired. Some only offer a $100.00 signup bonus. So keep any evidence that you signed up for the $200.00 signup bonus.
Just in time for tax payments – 0% APR one year of purchases.
This is the link that I was successful processing and instant approval:

Hi, has anyone received the cash back bonus yet? I got approved in mid Feb and met the 500 within that first week but nothing yet.
Never mind, I found it: “After qualifying, please allow 6 to 8 weeks for bonus points to post to your account. To be eligible for this bonus offer, account must be open and not in default at the time of fulfillment.”
I am open to advice here about this card ’cause I would love to have this bonus.
I most likely will use it to prepay a utility bill which I find valuable as I only pay the convenience fee of $2.35 ONCE (to Chase, ironically) AND I can forget the bill for a couple of months especially as spring approaches and use of electricity is lower. With $500 spent, I might be able to make it through 3 months. Much easier than a GC.
So, with 15 inquiries on my record, anybody have an opinion whether I can achieve an approval on this one. Score: 780+ minimal guess.
Current Chase cards open: 3 (IHG, Slate, WN). Chase cards closed in 2015: 3
The inquiries:
Chase: probably 7, within 2 years. Auto: 1 or 2, with Chase being one, I think, Oct., 2014. Total: 15
Yeah I imagine you’d be approved, but no way to know for sure.
Chuck, I want to apply for the two BOA cards (ABA and AICP) and this AARP card on the same day. I have a near perfect credit score and have not opened up any new credit cards since Oct 2015. Is this possible and I should only get two hard pulls? tia
You should, but no guarantee you’ll get approved for all three.
“We’ll let you know of our decision through U.S. mail within the next 30 days.” With a 760 FICO I’m not used to non-instant approvals lol
Patience JB, patience 🙂
Thanks once again for all you do. I was approved.
I take it “restaurants” includes all fast-food joints as well? Our annual spend in “real” sit-down and serve restaurants is close to nothing but fast-food is a different story 😉
JB maybe want to look at the US Bank Cashplus Visa with 5% at fast food joints. but only 2% at sit down restaurants. I am NOT aware of any signup bonus offers for that card.
simply cash biz by amex can give 3% on restaurants all year, i have it. up to $25,000 , 300$ signup bonus now no annual fee, plus awesome amex coverages. they should pay me for this ad
