The Offer
- Spend $15 or more on Uber with a registered Amex card and receive a $5 statement credit.
This offer is targeted to some people in their Amex logins and is not apparently available on Twitter currently. I checked a couple of my cards and didn’t see the offer yet, but many people are reporting finding the offer on some of their cards.
The Fine Print
- Valid until 7/25/15
- “…must use your enrolled Card as the credit card on file for your Uber account to pay Uber $15 or more for a single ride”.
- Actual payment amount must be $15, after any promos/credits applied.
- “Offer not valid on UberT in New York City, or other services in which payment does not occur via Uber’s app.”
Our Verdict
Many people love Uber and this offer could be useful.
In the past, the offer credits were triggered by purchasing gift cards, the minimum gift card amount being $25. This would amount to a 20% discount on your Uber credit. Many report not being given the option to buy gift cards from Uber; contacting Uber should be able to remedy this problem.
(If you’re new to Uber, you can use Mileswhips referral link  and get a $20 Uber credit free.)
Remember also that all Capital One cardholders (debit and credit card holders) are eligible for the 2 free rides worth $30 each when first signing up for Uber with promo code CAPITALONEÂ as mentioned in detail here. You should be able to get this credit by simply linking your Capital One card, even without using it.

Can you confirm that you get the free ride credit without needing to use the linked capital One card?
Conspiracy theory: it’s only targeted to people who have charges on their card to Lyft!
