Gyft Neuters 2% Rewards Program (Gyft Points)

Gyft has stopped issuing their in-store rewards program called Gyft Points which offered 2% back in store rewards on all purchases. The change went into effect on 2/18/16 at 11 AM PST.

The Gyft Points Program still exists for special offers in the future (“Stay tuned for announcements on new ways to earn Points!”), but the regular 2% back is no longer.

You can still redeem any Gyft Points you have from previous purchases. Points expire at the end of the next calendar year from when they were earned.

It used to be possible to earn 2% back from the portal AND 2% back in Gyft Points. Then the portals dwindled, and now Gyft Points are gone. Gyft is not as enticing anymore.

Enrolled in Gyft and tried to buy a $50 hotels.com gift card. Declined for security reasons, claiming they can’t verify my identity. What the heck? They have my email and cell number. It’s easier to buy thousands of dollars of Visa/MC gift cards online!

And is there a good portal to use to purchase gift cards on Gyft?

Does Gyft still count as 5x UR on Ink cards?

Gyft purchases earn 5X UR points when paid with Chase Ink cards. So, if you buy a Gyft card via portal, then you are effectively getting 5X on your purchases + whatever the portal has to offer. I know portal often have either dwindled or gone, but every now and then you get 2% offers for a short time.

This is still a nice option for me to buy GCs for store for smaller amounts based on my need and still earn 5X. For e.g. buying a $20 CVS card and get 5X UR points. Where else do you get this?

“Where else do you get this?”

You get this buying CVS cards with Ink from ABC Gift Cards or Cardcash, where you’ll get the same 5x plus 12-15% off. Unless you prefer portal cash to a discount, I suppose.

Wait, ABCGift cards registers as 5x with the Ink cards when purchasing directly through their site?

ABC works as well? I know they’re the same company but I was under the impression that only CardCash purchases actually earned the 5x with Ink?

This would be great if it worked for both because for whatever reason ABC usually has the same cards for 1% less. The only reason I can think of is there’s a sole portal offering 1% cash back on CardCash but no portals offer cash back on ABC.

Just did a test order to see. Looks like orders from ABC post as from CardCash so it should work.

Side note: annoying that the minimum order amount is $20..

ABC Gift cards also gets 5X? Is it like Gyft where you had to use PayPal to pay?

I know that paying Gyft via Paypal gets the 5:1 on the Chase rewards. Does paying Gyft directly with the Chase Ink work too?

Thanks.

But it’s confirmed that cardcash and abc gift card purchases get 5x with ink? without paypal?

I had about $50 worth of Gyft points when they decided to ban my account with no explanation.

Same here. Had to open a complaint with the BBB just to get them to let me into my account to access the gift cards I had purchased. No one could give an explanation as to a reason for the ban. Just said I was banned by “the system”, couldn’t appeal, and nothing I could do.

Same here banned with about $50 in points. If you install their app on your phone you’ll be able to see your cards, even though you’ll get a message at start saying this account has been shut down and to contact their customer service.
