Reader JakeFromStateFarm was able to do more than one transaction per visit (YMMV by cashier) and use the award cart and points at sears. Keep in mind that Sears/K-mart is under a lot of financial strain, so I’d be using those points and award cards as soon as possible.
Try to get it for my minimum speeding on my new credit card, but my knoxville kmart told me cash only. So wasted time for me. Who want kmart 10$ card when u can get free points weekly by fount. Lol
I have a stupid question… why do people like these deals?
You pay:
$100 for the GC
$6 for activation fee (a guess)
$1-$2 for liquidation (assuming you don’t spend it down)
= ~$107 total
And you get
$100 GC
$10 Kmart award card, that is harder to use than cash
$2 Kmart points, also harder to use than cash
$1-$2 of credit card points?
= ~$113 nominal value, minus some discount because it’s not all cash
So you make a profit of maybe $6, minus your time to liquidate? Seems like less than minimum wage for most folks.
Or is there a key consideration I’m missing?
Apparently there’s been a lot of stolen credit cards used it Kmart in my area so they are very nervous about it and I’ve actually soft coded the registers to have to have a override. In one store they actually had taken all the gift cards off the shelves and you could only get them by request from the head manager . That took an hour. You can only do one per transaction. Also only two dollars in points applies to the first order. Last time I called in and argued with them and they finally added the points for all the others but it took some work.
Gotta love Kmart.
Can you do two per transaction and get two $10 award cards?
When does the Kmart gift card expire? Sometimes they are only valid for a week.
My Kmart did not advertise the deal but it did ring up on the register. Unfortunately they only took cash or debit for gift cards And I’m not 100% sure but it seemed to be coded into the register. Anybody know about hard coding or just a local policy?
What’s the highest denomination GC you could buy at k-mart?

The award card is just a normal Kmart gift card. It’s YMMV, but I have had success in the past using a Kmart GC to buy an Amazon GC at both Kmart and Sears, but that was mid 2016 so I don’t know if the registers still allow it.
I work at Kmart and the registers still allow it. It just depends on the store tbh.
