Kroger & Affiliates: 4x Fuel Points on Visa & Mastercard Fixed-Value Gift Cards until 6/6/17

The Offer

Direct Link

  • Kroger stores are offering 4x fuel points on Visa and Mastercard fixed-value gift cards through June 6, 2017 with a digital coupon. Unlimited use.

The standard deal at Kroger is 2x fuel points on all gift card purchases, and they’re now offering 4x on Visa and Mastercard fixed-value cards only. Login to your online account to find the coupon at your local store and load it to your card.

Our Verdict

The standard 4x deals are much better since they work on all third-party gift cards and on Visa/MC fixed cards too; this deal is only on the latter. Go on the weekend to get double fuel points on non-gift card purchases too this summer. And remember to max out your Chase Freedom 5x grocery by the end of June.

Usually, every 1000 fuel points will get you a discount of $1 per gallon with a 35-gallon limit, a max value of $35 per 1000-points. (These details do vary by store and region.) If you buy $250 in gift cards and max out the 35-gallons, it’ll end up a 14% discount on the gift cards. You can also get free cell phone service with Kroger when you earn fuel rewards points.

I got 4x yesterday on a $100 Visa Gift Card. When I went today, I only got 2x. I checked my account and the digital coupon is still active and it says “unlimited use.” I’ll try again tomorrow.

Has anyone tested to see if it’s unlimited vs one per account per day?

this deal is not available at Fred Meyer (OR) stores. Only has 2X offer and doesnt list VGCs as option.

Just as a reminder, Discover quarter category is home improvement, I’ve maxed my quarter buying Kroger gift cards sold at Lowes, these can also be used at the pump.

I got 2000 points for may, done with a little grocery shopping and mainly Amazon GC on 4x weekends. Bought with my amex blue pref.

Got my 4 6gal gas cans and my car that holds 10, so I get around 65 to 70 gal at one dollar o ff. Hope I can burn through 35 gal by the end of June though…

Thank you doc, for reminding me how to play the system.

With fees taken into consideration, and maxing out the 35 gallons in coming out to 8% discount on the VGCs if you purchase in round numbers with max denominations of $100 on $500 x 4 fuel points at 2000. $70 – 29.75 = $40.25 / $500 = 8%. Correct me if I’m wrong on this. This obviously doesn’t include your payment method for the gas.

I’m also getting different language on my coupon, not seeing the unlimited use like in the above picture. Looking the the terms it states in mine “limit one coupon per transaction, per day”. Logged on another account that hadn’t loaded it yet and not seeing the unlimited language either.

It looks like they changed the language. It was unlimited use over the weekend, but it now states, one per household per day.

I’m satiated with Kroger 1,00 off gas through end of June…. By contrast, just had my first fillup+ of (almost) FREE gas at a Martin’s (same chain as Giant/Stop ‘n Shop) Merely bought two $500 VGC’s — and instantly received 2,000 points — which loaded instantly. Then filled up the van and a gas can with 25 gallons at the pump, costing a whopping 5 cents a gallon. (net profit, $38.10, from buying two vgc’s w/ 5.95 fee, then getting $50 immediate gas credit. (realize I’ll have a new “problem” as gas around here is going sub-$2.00/gallon)

Finally, there’s competition at the pump for Kroger. This could get really fun.

nice! in TX here supermarkets only give extra fuel pts for fixed vgc & mcgc. not buying if the fee is neither waived nor an instant credit like $10
