Avoiding Fees
It doesn’t look like any of their checking accounts come with any monthly fees (first class checking definitely doesn’t), but they have deposit requirements if you want to earn interest. The interest rates are low, so I personally wouldn’t bother. I couldn’t find their fee schedule online, so I am not sure if they charge any early account termination fees or not.
Membership Requirements
To join you must fall into one of the following categories:
- are currently employed by one of our select employee groups
- work for any public school throughout the state of Nebraska
- are of Methodist or Lutheran religion
- are a direct relative of an existing member of the credit union
I’m not sure how they’d check if you are of Methodist or Lutheran religion, so you might be able to sign up that way. More information on their how to join page.
Our Verdict
Personally I don’t see this bonus as worth doing, signing up for an account will be difficult and it will most likely result in a hard pull. They also want you to deposit your full pay check (and might even require paystub verification) in which case the usual work around’s probably wouldn’t work.
Instead of going after this offer, I’d recommend signing up for one of our recommended offers instead. If you do decide to complete this first Nebraska bonus, please share your experiences in the comments. We’ve added this bonus to our full list of new checking sign up bonuses for 2015.
