The Fine Print
- Valid until June 17th
- The trial subscription purchase must remain active (i.e., may not be cancelled) for at least 45 days (some say 30 days)
- There are no refunds of the $1.00 trial subscription fee.
- If the Member does not cancel the trial subscription by the end of the two or three month trial subscription period, Member’s subscription will automatically convert to a monthly subscription, and Member’s credit card will be charged based on the terms found on the WSJ offer page.
- Offer is limited to one (1) trial subscription per loyalty account.
Our Verdict
Similar deals just ended a few days ago. A few things to keep in mind:
- Must kept membership for at least 45 days
- You are auto renewed once the trial finishes to a monthly subscription
- Must cancel via phone
Be sure you set up a reminder to cancel if you don’t actually want the membership. The rates are normal, but the real deal is that the $1 month trial subscription is eligible for portal payout. This offer comes around on a semi frequent basis.

Taking a whirl on this. Used Citi virtual account number as suggested previously. Hopefully i remember to cancel. If not, then ok. :)
What if you pay with a virtual CC with limit set to $1, how would they charge you for the renewal?
Some DPs reported that they'll endlessly call you.

How much of a hassle is cancelling by phone?
2 quick easy ones. 1 hard battle. Told them I had a new one through company. Guy was a dick for fighting me since I explain I had the company one...

It's not bad at all, just be sure to do it at least a few days before the trial ends as they don't budge on refunds.
I signed up for this a few weeks ago and this past Saturday was the 45 days since the signup so I called yesterday and it took about 3 minutes to cancel my trial subscription. You need to keep saying you have no interest in anything they try to offer and just say you want to cancel otherwise the person on the phone will try to offer you different price plans to keep you signed up. At the end of the call I got an email confirmation and I even got 20 cents as a refund.
Took me about 10 mins last time, including a ~5 minute hold. I suggest straight up saying you did it for the miles/points, so they know you mean business and then only make one attempt to offer a “special discounted rate”
Good news source with a crappy cancellation process. Why do I have to call and deal with a hard sell? Not worth it due to this.
