Our Verdict
Looks like portals are working on these purchases (you won’t see this 99¢ offer, you need to click back to the homepage to see it), one reader successfully used MyPoints for 5,000 points offer and sees those points as pending (worth $50 in giftcards). ShopatHome is offering $25. Full list of other options here. Obviously no guarantee those won’t be clawed back. ‘Limited commercials’ is a flat out lie, expect at minimum 1 minute of commercials before your show starts and then multiple interruptions during your viewing. Personally I hate commercials so I’d rather just pay more to avoid them. I’m trying to cut back on the amount of these types of services I subscribe to so I’ll be giving this offer a miss. I guess I could try to do it for the portal cashback but that seems like a lot of effort for relatively minimal gain and somewhat risky due to clawback. If you don’t mind commercials as much this might be a good deal for you.
Hat tip to reader Christian
William Charles Just a heads up, when I checked on TopCashBack to see if I should subscribe through them, it actually had a popup when I clicked through:
“If you are trying to sign up to the $0.99 per month Black Friday offer, please note that no cashback site have been authorized by Hulu to offer cashback on this offer. If you decide to go ahead and sign up to it it may track into your account but TopCashback can not guarantee that the cashback will be paid as the advertiser may reserve the right to cancel it, so please progress at your own risk.”
TopCashBack continues to be one of the most straight forward cashback sites out there. I’m glad you guys work with them more than the others.

Good to know
I decided to be the guinea pig on trying to upgrade to No Commercials. Here’s what I learned.
Upgrading to No Commercials from the $0.99 plan cost me $4. My credit card was charged immediately.
My account page said that in 1 month, I’d be charged $11.99.
I was able to downgrade back to the $0.99 plan, and I’ll continue to have No Commercials for 1 month until the next billing cycle.
My guess is that unless they change something, I can probably wait each month until they charge me the $0.99, upgrade to No Commercials, pay the $4, and immediately downgrade back to the $0.99 deal. Stupid, but it’ll get me commercial-free Hulu for $4.99 a month.
Good DP, thanks dave.
Heads up, this no longer works. I was able to upgrade to the no-commercials plan for $4 this month, but the option to switch back to the 99 cent plan is now gone.
Took advantage of deal on 11/24 and was able to redeem my 5000 points for a Burlington gc almost immediarely. However on 11/25 my Burlington redemption was “refunded”. 5000 points are back in my account, but I wonder for how long.
Just adding another dp for Mypoints. I received 5,000 points last night at about 8:00. Took about 10 minutes. However, my cousin asked me to sign her up at about 9:30 last night and her points have not posted yet.
Also, redeemed my points for Target, I received an email saying the order is being processed, but still waiting for the gc.
It does state that points may take 48 hours to post and gc may take up to 10 days.
Finally, does anybody with experience with Mypoints know if they typically show the points pending sooner? I saw on the account statement page that it says she has 0 points pending. Hopefully that’s not a bad sign.
It was immediate for me – 5,000 points posted (as redeemable) literally immediately after I signed up.
My experience with mypoints had been zero – I actually had a kerfuffle with them 1-2 years ago with them when I had tried to sign up, could never verify my account because of some issue they had, and they were quite rude about it – but I just authorized that same account, clicked through, went back to Hulu homepage, and signed up (previous subscriber, but +12 months, so just signed in).
Just one datapoint, but if it worked for me (with an account that had been half-created for 1-2 years), I would think that if it is not immediate, there is a decent chance that there will be a snag with the points.
I am a new user of my points. Used my points portal for 5000 points. $35 Visa or $50 Burlington Coat Factory look like good redemptions. Any other possibilities?
my practice is: 5000 points -> $50 burlington coat factory -> sell at raise -> $40 cash
Pair with this classic post: https://www.doctorofcredit.com/small-balance-waiver-a-k-a-lots-of-free-99-cent-amazon-gcs/
I used the MyPoints promo and cashed it out for Target in less than 10 minutes.
How to take advantage for existing users?
following this.
Open a new account bruh
Took advantage of the offer with the mypoints. was able to redeem for a burlington gift card immediately but it is currently processing. will update once I get confirmation email.
Confirmation email?
Eh, might not use it much with commercials, but for 99¢ when other “magical methods” of viewing don’t work, I’ll take it. I went through ShopAtHome. Cool, if it pays out. Ok if not.
How to get 99 cents when going through ShopAtHome? When I went through ShopAtHome, it went to a signup page, and I only saw 5.99$ option after clicking signup.
Clicked through, then went to the main Hulu.com page. Who knows if it will work.
Is anyone else having problems with this offer? The homepage says $0.99/month, and after clicking sign up it seems to redirect to the usual subscription page with the lowest option being $5.99/month
go to Hulu home page , youi will see it 0.99/mth
Just checked the terms and conditions
This offer is only valid if you are new or have not had a Hulu subscription within the last 12 months
If you have had Hulu sometime in the last 12 months, no worries. Just use a different e-mail address and a different credit card and you’re all set.
