Aegean has devalued their star alliance award chart, not only have they not given any notice but they just updated the chart without a single word that the chart had been changed. You can view the two different charts below (old chart on the left, new chart on the right).
I’m not that familiar with Aegean if I’m being honest, but one obviously change is round trip from North America to Europe has increased by 10,000 miles (previously 60,000 , now 70,000 miles). It seems like the award price increases are all in flights to/from Europe. Earlier today we also reported on Best Western making changes without notice as well.

Who is Agean? I never even heard of them. Where there former hidden gems n their chart?
I really would like to get more familiar with all these alliance partners. What points transfer to Agean?
I think from their prospective, literally only 1% of the chart changed.
It is unprofessional, and a slap on US travelers. But I can see why they don't treat this as a major change.
Notice is not needed. Do people give notice to thieves in their homes: We will be arriving in half an hour. Please steal as much as you can before then.
Since when are loyal customers thieves?
It's all stealing. Taking more value than the price charged. Not stealing in legal sense but that's what business is. Even your company gets more value from your work than they pay you in wages. That's what everyone is trying to do.
Also customers that are only booking sweet spots are not loyal customers. Loyalty used in contemporary context is overrated. It's time we stopped using that term to signal virtue.
Easy to fix this. Stop signup bonuses and move to points earned based on revenue model. But airlines(and other companies) won't do this. Why?
A need to attract new customers. No new customers are barging thru the door and spend that money with the airline.
That also means a few unprofitable customers also walk in thru the door and airlines do not have the capability at this time to identify that customer type.
I normally either dislike or disagree with most everything I see you post (here and on other locations), Debit, but this statement is, in my humble opinion, actually correct:
"Also customers that are only booking sweet spots are not loyal customers. Loyalty used in contemporary context is overrated. It’s time we stopped using that term to signal virtue."
But the problem is also that the BUSINESSES stopped being loyal to their customers as well, so it is a two-way street.
So, yes, Loyalty is a word that likely ought to stop being used in regards to any of these programs, be it hotels, airlines, rental cars, etc..
Eek! With a slip of the thumb I accidentally upvoted this dreck. William Charles, are you able to remove it?
The more you talk, the stupider you sound. Stealing is illegal. Nothing illegal here. Move along.
Ok boomer.
Are your customers thieves?
This might be the worst take on the internet this month lol.
This guy is a troll, and not even a good one. You can safely ignore anything he posts, there will be nothing logical or of any substance.
This guy is an idiot.
