The Offer

Direct link to offer

  • Air Canada is offering an easy status match formembers that have status with U.S. based airlines: American, Delta, Alaska, Southwest, JetBlue and Hawaiian.

Our Verdict

Match is valid for the rest of 2021 and you can earn it for 2022 when you book and fly just one roundtrip on Air Canada. Might as well do this if you need Air Canada status as it’s super quick.

  • No thank you. I won’t take ANY air Canada flight ever. Their service is notoriously bad. Avoiding at all costs.

  • They actually just changed the match for SW CP per their FAQ page:
"From 30 September 2021 onwards, the updated model will apply: / The following tier-mapping will be in place up until 11:59pm EST 29 September, 2021"
CP will be matched to 50K instead of 75K after 9/29

  • DP on SW CP Match, followed advice from other posters and submitted screenshots of SW account that show "Companion Pass Earned through..."
CP was gained through credit card bonus, and not by hitting the requisite 125k RR. Approval <1hr

  • DP on SW CP Match: I kept getting "Additional detail required" emails minutes after submitting screenshots of my SW account. What eventually worked for me was a screenshot on my phone in the SW app. I opened the app, clicked the profile button in the top right, and screenshotted this screen showing my full name, RR#, and "Companion Pass Earned through ....".

  • Did anyone already get their upgraded status updated on aeroplan? In the approval email it said it could take up to 5 biz days. Got a flight coming up this week wanted to see if i could pack an extra bag

    • 9/28 submitted at 3pm ET, got approved 20 mins later
10/2 status actually showing up in Aeroplan account

  • I can match from my Alaska status.
So if i want to earn United miles when flying United, but want to access United Club with the new Aeroplan status, is there a way to do both? Don't really want to earn Aeroplan miles since I don't have any right now.

    • There are actually different fields in the ticket for this, although I don't think it's supported by most carriers - see https://guides.developer.iata.org/docs/fqts

However, for *A I have never had problems getting into lounges by presenting my star alliance gold card even if it's not on my boarding pass. Some "helpful" agents will modify the FF number on the boarding pass when they let me in, and I usually just change it back after I get in.

    • The BP readers at the lounge will obviously not show that you have access, however officially they are supposed to let you in.

Per the website, there are three simple rules for entry:
-Must be traveling on a same-day flight on any *A carrier
-If your BP does not indicate Gold, you must show a card
-The lounge must display a *A Gold logo
The exception for United domestic flights for United MP members is called out in a separate paragraph, but otherwise there are no other limitations.

If you get any pushback have "https://www.staralliance.com/en/lounge-access-policy" bookmarked on your phone.

  • DP: Asked for CP with only CP gained from credit card + covid bonus. (I dont even have the basic A-list) Tried several times since they kept asking more "additional details". Finally uploaded a screenshot in app with points showing I earned the CP with >125K points, then got approved almost instantly. I chose "CP" in the options, but not sure what they'll eventually match me to tho.
