The Fine Print

  • Promotion valid 10/11/2023 – 12/23/2023.
  • Membership eligibility required. Must open a share savings account to join RFCU®. Minimum balance of $5.00 is required to open and must be maintained in share savings account. Bonus will be deposited into the member’s primary checking account within 150 days of account opening, but no later than May 21, 2024.
  • Bonus will not be paid if all promotion eligibility requirements are not met.
  • The promotion code must be presented at the time of account opening to qualify for the promotion and may not be used more than two times per household.
  • Age and other promotional restrictions apply.
  • All bank account bonuses are treated as income/interest and as such you have to pay taxes on them

Easy checking account is the easiest account to keep fee free. This has a $5 monthly fee that is waived with a direct deposit or 4 debit card transactions.

Early Account Termination Fee

I wasn’t able to find any mention of an early account termination fee in their fee schedule.

Our Verdict

This is an absolutely amazing offer as the requirements are very easy to meet. Unfortunately it’s very location restricted but if you live in that area an amazing deal and we will add it to the best bank bonus page.

  • I live in one of the counties and opened the account because I knew 3 people who had done this and gotten the bonus within 2 weeks. It's now been two months since I opened the account and met the requirements and I was told yesterday the bonus would not be paid until the account had been open 150 days, which is not what it says, even in the fine print, it says within 150 days.

    This is what it says in the language before the fine print:

    3. Enjoy Your Bonus
    $600 will be deposited in your new account once promotional requirements are met.

    So a little misleading.

  • Any OOS applying in person DP's? I live in FL and would consider driving to a branch for an easy $600

    • I'm a member of Redstone also from FL. Redstone has one amazing 5% CC for both 5% restaurants AND 5% fuel AND 3% on wholesale clubs like Sam's, 3% groceries INCLUDING Walmart (still no at Target), 3% at discount stores and utilities.
      AND a 4.58% Brighter Day saving account. (Therefore, I concider their CC a 5.4% when you consider the CC AND saving together - big banks like Chase don't pay 4.58% on their savings accounts).

      Redstone has you open an account through a video call so you wouldn't have to drive all that way. There are a few (national) organizations to look up to join first (around $8-$10) so you are eligible to be a member of Redstone. YMMV, but I would think if you were already a member without a checking account here this would be an easy $600 (when it's available again). I also have a referral code for an extra $100 for the checking bonus, just ask Me.

  • OOS. It was a no brainer to get the bonus. After the application "they had a hard time finding me." Oh well.

  • I had a Redstone account before (I think a lot of DoC readers have).. and I'm definitely not in AL or TN. Curious if they still accept OOS?

    • I was thinking the same thing. I know I had an OOS checking account in the past. Have to check my notes.

    • They clamped down pretty hard on OOS applicants after that last round when everyone was signing up for multiple accounts. I remember some folks having like 20+ savings accounts just for the CC funding.

    • T&Cs for the bonus state:

      The Participant must be a resident of Cullman County, Alabama; Bedford County, TN; Cannon County, TN; Moore County, TN; or Rutherford County, TN.

  • As a GA resident, I applied with my permanent address belonging to my parents in TN with my shipping address being my GA one
