Our Verdict

I find that during big sale deals such as Black Friday/Cyber Monday/Prime Day these gift cards sell out exceptionally quickly (a lot quicker than normal) so that’s something to keep in mind. I can’t see the iTunes cards lasting long at all. As always the Amazon deals get better when you stack them with other promotions, a full list of stacking opportunities can be found here.

  • I’m trying to buy the discounted gift cards and they don’t seem to stack with the Amex MR deal. I’m not getting 20% and $10 off.

  • FYI, this is prob a rare case but I bought a electronic Chipotle gift card from Amazon a while back only to realize recently that it was fraudulently used. I had an incredibly difficult time getting anyone to Amazon or Chipotle to help me with it. I first contacted Chipotle gift card and they said since it was bought on Amazon they aren't responsible for it and when I called Amazon they said the same thing so it was a continuous back and forth with them. I finally got ahold of Chipotle customer service who is in the process of resolving my situation but I would advise to proceed with caution.

    • Same thing - I misplaced my links and when I went to redeem the cards (bought this July) for Christmas presents (starting October), Amazon has no redownload link, and told me I had to chase down all 5 original vendors. I thought maybe I could get my money back from Amex - they took 6 weeks to basically say ‘Amazon sent us the invoice saying you paid for these. Too bad, so sad.’

      • That excuse makes no sense from Amex — you are asking for your money back BECAUSE you paid for them...

    • Good data point. Unfortunately these types of issues are on the rise. Same thing has happened notoriously with “The Children’s Place”. Purchased through PPDG. Basically Children’s Place is useless and an outright horrible company to deal with. I wouldn’t touch another product of theirs for any amount. Buyer beware especially with that brand - you’re cards will be drained and you’ll have zero help other than maybe a chargeback with your credit card.

  • itunes usually actually lasts because they have a very large supply -- but a lot of the better brands sell out quickly.

  • Be aware, you can purchase gift cards with Amazon gift cards loaded onto your account. This is how you can double dip fuel points at Kroger, or even more dipping if you get creative.

One example is using a Chase offer for Lowe’s, buying a Kroger gift card (10% off) using Kroger gift card to purchase Amazon card (prepaid $50 will work) gets you 4X fuel points, then use your now discounted Amazon card to purchase these 20% off gift cards.

        • @guest_676540 not sure about yours, no issues with fixxed value $50 ones I liquidated $240 on.

      • @guest_676463 yes, but there’s a dollar limit or variable limit that gets triggered, requiring a management override, $50’s is where I’ve stopped at. I know $50 fixed denominations work where you can use Kroger branded gift cards to purchase. They will also auto drain said Kroger card in case you have less than the $50 amount left on it. You can also combine multiple $50’s in one order and be fine

This is personal experience through self checkout, YMMV.
