They figured out on which happy cards they lose money.
Wait for Black Friday deals
Ugh, it was a Lightning Deal and is 100% claimed, and I am on the wait list, after I cashed out some points on a survey site to get an Amazon gift card to pay for it.
Have had trouble using the Happy Dining card at PF Changs. It worked a couple of times at PF Changs but now it doesn't work at all. Called customer service and they say the card is fine, and you have a balance, yet when PF Changs swiped it as credit at 2 different locations it didn't work. Stuck with $75 worth of the Happy Dining cards now. Anyone experience anything similar recently?
I always combine a $50 happy gift card and a credit card like Hilton surpass (to get $10 dining credit) to pay at PF Changs and it worked smoothly
Buy a $75 pf changs gc at the restaurant
This is a great idea. I can try this out. Thanks!
Perhaps like a credit card, the restaurant will attempt to authorize 20% more on top of what is due to cover taxes and tips. If one has a $75 balance on a giftcard and your bill came out to say $65, the swipe will be for $78 and thus declined because of insignificant funds.
Some restaurants seem to be able to input a flat amount payment, then swipe the gift card for that flat amount, and get a remaining balance due that they put on a normal credit card. Otherwise that's not really fair if you have a GC but can't use it due to the fact it's too close to the actual amount of the bill. Sounds like a situation to get a manager involved if needed.
In the past when it has worked, I'm pretty sure I have used a combination of the happy gift card and a credit card to pay. As in, if the gift card balance runs out, I pay for the remaining using a credit card.
