Amazon has added a new option for gifting an item without knowing the recipient’s address. Simply gift it to their phone number or email address, and Amazon will message them to get the shipping information. They’ll also have the option to exchange it for an Amazon gift card.

This could be a useful option for the holiday gifting season. It’s currently only available for Prime members using the Amazon app and for shipping within continental USA.

Exactly. I'm already having to teach my mom to ignore phone calls and emails claiming there is a problem with her Amazon payment (she doesn't even have an Amazon account!). This will only make this existing spam/phishing problem worse.
