Update 4/5/20: OOS A reader reached out with a better deal through Verizon: they have it on sale for $299.98. Go through Topcashback and add two filler items for the buy-3-get-30%-off deal. And you’ll also get 10% back from Topcashback. Price can be as low as $224 (plus tax), and you’ll get $22 back from Topcashback 10% portal earnings bringing down cost to around $200 (plus tax).
The 30%-off deal works on various other accessories from Verizon as well, such as Ring devices, Google Nest, etc. It does not work on Apple Airpods.

It’s in Stock again…
This worked for 3rd Party gift cards as of 12 noon ET on 4/14
Looks like Verizon is OOS
Do not rely on the portals to make purchase decisions though… I did not get my cashback when purchasing some headphones from VZ last time. And they never replied to the missing claim.
Can often be had for less via eBay. Wish someone would buy my pair I’m selling for anywhere near this price
Um, no?
The lowest I’ve seen on Ebay was like $280 for brand new. To get anywhere $200 you have to buy used.
Plus, no warranty on Ebay unless buying from an authorized reseller

Thank you for posting this – I was so disappointed in the Sony WH1000XM3’s that I returned them last month and had no substitute since.
I just used the Amex 20% offer 4 days ago so I was surprised to see it work again on the same card. I can also confirm the Amazon Move promo stacked with this offer too and brought the price down another $18.
Can you explain why the Sony’s were so bad.
Sure thing. Got to do something with all this time indoors these days… tl;dr version is that two biggest disappointments were call quality and out-of-box sound, but overall they’re still a good headset for most people. The noise reduction worked great, but the actual sound quality of the music was so bassy that it muffled all the other frequencies. Based off the reviews I saw beforehand I was expecting a lot more, but now I assume most people equate immortal levels of rumbling to “wow, great sound!”. As minor disclaimer I’ve studied and worked in a few music studios in my past so I’m a lot pickier about clear sound from low to high, and out of the box these do not deliver that experience. To be fair, the app is pretty intuitive and the EQ function can correct the sound well. When I used the ‘Bright’ preset and lowered the bass booster, it really started to sound great. But that benefit is still slightly offset because if you connect it to another device (or if you hardwire it into anything including your own phone or airplane entertainment)…no more EQ for you. The other issues probably isn’t on most peoples priorities, but the call quality was a disgrace. According to people I called, I always sound like I was in another room and they just heard muffled echoes of me. I put the blame on myself for not researching call quality more – most reviews never mentioned it and I also just assumed ‘if so many little earbuds got so good at calls these days, the bigger and more expensive ones surely will’. But my opinion now is more like Sony should not have even included the option to make a call so at least our expectations are leveled. I don’t make a lot of calls but I make enough both on-the-go and for work that it has some weight in my decision, so if I pay $300 i expect a headset mic to freakin work /at all/. I later found out almost nobody on the internet has had positive experiences with the call quality so it wasn’t a dud set of phone, and Sony either couldn’t or wouldn’t address the issue for years. These people won’t switch though because some unexplained deep hatred of Bose. More power to em I guess… I also read that you cant connect it to more than one device, so toggling between one source and another is an added inconvenience that most other headphones don’t have. I didn’t own them long enough for that to impact me personally, but I feel it’s worth noting since a ton of people mentioned this. For a casual or just less-picky listener than me – and one who doesn’t use it for calls – I would probably still recommend it. The post-EQ quality is excellent, they’re pretty comfy, noise cancellation was some of the best I’ve heard to date, and the app + headset controls worked great. But… Read more »
Good fair review. I agree that Sony dropped the ball on phone calls and connecting to 2 or more devices. When your Bose 700s arrive, if possible, write another review here.
Personally, I prefer the Sony WH1000XM3s over these headphones. Both are very close in noise cancellation, but fit and comfort depend on one’s physical anatomy.
Both are good headphones. Try out both in a B&M store before making a final decision.
Yup, both are definitely great. I think after a couple tests with both now that Bose are right for me, and Sony is right for others. Still not crazy about the price tag but I do wear headphones for hours nearly every day, and if these will hold up for several years, I can start to justify it then.
I actually did look at testing out more models at the local store a few days ago but they have everything shut off because of covid. It’s the right call, but still…bummer.
I purchased both QC35ii and WH1000XM3. I like the USB-C charging of Sony but at the end I went back to Bose. Sony can only connect to one device at a time, and it’s not that convenient for me to constant switching between my PC and phone. But I think either one will work great
