Update 4/4/20: Deal is back again
The Offer
- Amazon is offering a $5 Amazon credit when you add $20 or more using Amazon Cash for new amazon Cash users
The Fine Print
- This is a limited time offer, one per Amazon customer account.
Our Verdict
I’d personally wait for a bigger offer to come along, as we’ve seen $20 and $15 bonuses in the past. I suspect we will see a bigger bonus for the upcoming Prime day as well.

This is no longer available, as they seem to have fully deprecated this in favor of reload.
Amazon Cash has been deprecated.
Please visit Amazon Reload to add Amazon Gift Card Balance with your credit or debit card or visit your favorite retailer to purchase a physical Amazon Gift Card with cash.
Updated DP: The $5 credit did *not* work on a third-party gift card on P2 account.
Deal is still active.
@will This $5 credit works on third-party gift cards. Not sure whether this was true before.
I did this about a month ago. Be prepared to call in to have them manually add it. Also, the 5 dollar credit is only good for items shipped and sold by Amazon
has anyone been able to do this more than once on one account despite the terms? There is no activation link so I can’t verify online quickly and usually the banner doesn’t appear when you aren’t eligible.
Be the DP.
Did not automatically credit the second time, so not churnable. You cannot check if you done it before either, if you forgot.
Way to go for Amazon to offer this in the middle of a pandemic where you have to go to a store to load.
Anyone know if this codes for drugstore purchases at CVS and the like?
So just to clarify, you need to go to a place to add cash to your account? You can't do it online? Can you use a credit card to buy amazon cash or do you need paper money?
You can't do it online. You have to go to a physical place such as CVS. You can add the $ to your account with a credit card or cash. John 3:16
Yes, you can use a credit card to buy amazon cash at the store. From the FAQ:
6) Can I make an Amazon Cash transaction using a debit or credit card?
Yes, making an Amazon Cash transaction using your debit or credit card works the same way as using cash. At a participating store, specify the amount you want to add to your Amazon Balance, and pay that amount using your credit or debit card.
I'd like to know that too. Amazon is all about convenience and speed. Going somewhere to add cash??? Seems like a waste of time
The point is to allow people who do not use debit/credit cards (no one around here, but they exist) to shop on amazon.
