Our Verdict
The Fire TV stick was already popular at $20, I guess it’ll be even more popular at $15. Can anybody comment on how this is vs Chromecast? If you can’t make it work, make sure you have the latest app update as well. Looks like it might work on Echo dot and other items, if you try it on anything else let us know in the comments below.
I’m not seeing the banner at all. Dead?
It was a primeday deal, so yes.
It says I earned the coupon and all, but when I go to check out, it is not showing any discount other than the Deal of the Day discount. I’ve tried both desktop and the app to checkout with the same result. Still working for anyone else?
same result here. Coupon shows up fine but no discount
And that’s why I hate apps. I totally missed this myself. in a chat with them trying to get them to give me the $5. They keep claiming the $5 gift card deal is the same as the camera features deal…
Note: you won’t get the $5 credit if you use anything but the app to purchase, per the terms. Not sure if that’s really the case or not.
::edit:: 4 chat reps and 2 call reps later (each one forwarded to the next, not HUCA) and I got the $5 credit. Kind of impressed that I was never on hold more than 10 seconds. Also, yay $35 Kindle for mom!
Goodnight guys.
I’m done.
This stacks well with Amex Kindle deals too. They’re coming out $5 and $35.
Nice!
I’m having Prime fatigue
Take a deep breath – exhale slowly, and say Goosfraba.
It’s almost over, you’re nearly there!
I’m on autopilot now ordering random things 🙂
It feels like this was the first ever real Prime Day !
On the other hand I did get $5 Credit with $25 Gift Card Purchase on one of my accounts.
I have both FireTV stick and chrome cast but I now only use fireTv for my TVs. It has a remote which is nice so you don’t have to cast from your phone (personal preference). Most importantly my Sony tv has native hdmi remote so it works with my fire stick.
Order total: $7.42 after $5 off and 20% AMEX off the full price of $40, including tax and free shipping. I will take an $8 gadget/toy!
Thanks DoC!
Good info on the Amex discount. Got mine for $7.33 (lower tax state I guess). I’m a Roku and Chromecast guy, but for $7, why not. Plus, I hear the Fire TV Stick works in hotel rooms, which will be handy.
6% tax here. I haven’t tried to use Firestick before in a hotel, but I did try to bring a Echo Dot on vacation at a Diamond Resort. I couldn’t get around the “Accept” terms you had to do on the Warning page to use the internet, as I recall. An attempt was made, but I wasn’t going to spend a lot of time on it. We looked up the weather and news the old fashioned way – with our lame phones. #oldschool
I am a WD media player guy, but those are becoming prehistoric. I have a Chromecast, but it didn’t thrill me. I will play with this and find a use.
worked great, except coupon seems to be nowhere
The coupon is loaded to your Amazon account then applied once a qualifying item is added to your cart. The Fire Stick Plus all the items I listed are considered qualifying items.
If you find anymore items that work let us know 🙂
No banner for me. Apparently, highly YMMV.
Weird, I’ve done it along with 6 friends now all got it.
We just go to the Amazon App, click the camera icon, then do an image search it scans a random item then we scroll to the bottom of the matches and it shows a $5 promo banner.
Well, there is nothing on the bottom of the list of matches when I do this.
Removed and reinstalled the app, got the banner and the $15 stick.
It took me a while to realize – you have to change the setting from barcode scanning, to the fancy “product scan” where you can point it at a box of Kleenex’s, for instance. Then the banner comes up. I scaned a few bar codes, frustrated, before realizing myself.
Works with Fire TV too 🙂 29.99 + tax
