Instacart delivery of Aldi is the way to go. Amazing prices. You do have to supplement a few things, but we get 95% of what we need through it now.
We've shopped at Whole Foods, Shop Rite, Stop and Shop, and Wegmans.
There is simply no comparison in the better quality of the fruits and vegetables at Whole Foods.
The loss leader is Organic Romaine Hearts. Better quality at Whole Foods and the same price.
If you compare like to like as in organic vs organic, Whole Foods often isn't more expensive.
This week Califia Farms Almond Milk is on sale at Shop Rite so we will buy it there.
.
City slickers only.
I didn't have a prior membership myself. However, in my area, it looks like it's requiring a $50 minimum.
Well, if it's only free if you've used it before, hopefully they'll still offer the $30 and a free month with amexfresh
And the Prime annual fee increase is coming in 3,2,1....
In a capitalistic system, where growth every 3 months is literally the only measure that counts, this is the game that'll be played. Add more stuff, increase fees. Cost/benefit analysis lies on teh consumer, but Amazon has created such an effective eco system, I doubt anyone will blink an eye.
I myself buy everything on amazon, even if it might be a few bucks cheaper elsewhere. It is what it is. For me, no car, a nomad living in different cities on a regular basis, the free delievery of whole foods and now amazon fresh is worth the price alone. The 1/2 day deliver on all else is nice but I rarely need something that immediately. I get very little from the video service though am using the music service a bit more now. It is what it is. We live in a capitilistic/consumeristic world, and Amazon is king...
I effed up a while back when everyone was buying gift of primes at like $80, and stacking them up for future use.
Weird: I've been having Whole Foods deliver groceries to me weekly for no charge (same-day, 2-hour windows) for the last two months. I'm a Prime member, but I've never paid a monthly fee for this.
Prime now vs Fresh. I have to imagine in the very near future, now that fresh is free, they'll combine the two. Massive overlap across both, the 365 line for example. Just doesn't make sense to run both, unless they have a large presence for fresh in areas that don't have whole foods.
Thanks for the clarification. Agree that fewer programs that do the same thing is better.
That's Prime Now. This is for Amazon Fresh.
Most things are at least 30% more expensive, and let's face it, aren't most of us going to Kroger at least once a week anyway?
Bananas $1.09 vs Kroger $0.79
Salmon $7.99 12oz vs Kroger $6.99 16oz
Dozen large eggs $2.49 vs Kroger $0.89
nope... no kroger here, and as far as I can tell, eggs at 89c is probably a loss leader.
@guest_832276 Surely you have other grocery stores in your area?
Time >> money. Have 3 young kids, then report back.
@Jim. walmart has free grocery delivery
For two more days, due to a promo: normally, it's not free. And, it's Walmart. I would never consider buying meat or produce from Walmart. Let's just say I know what happens in those backrooms.
I just checked some of the Fresh 'deal' prices and found a few items cheaper than our nearest Walmart, though it seems regular prices are higher.
Damn... loved this service and then they pulled it from our area (I guess because of lack of interest). Making it free is just rubbing salt in the wound now. #FirstWorldProblems
Though convenient, still feel a bit expensive compare to Costco and Safeway. E.g. 2 lb raw shrimp, Costco 14, Safeway 10, Amazon 17. I'm lacking of money, not time.
I like Amazon Fresh, used them a dozen times during my six month trial. Their produce choices were good, which is a huge plus. One time I had an issue, I emailed and they refunded the item, no questions asked. Using my discounted Amazon gift cards also helps. One other advantage I've found is that I can be more discriminant with my shopping. I only buy what I intend to, and no impulse shopping.
Then drive to Safeway. Who cares
Safeway has delivery and if you can pick a 4 hour delivery window it's only a few dollars. Plus, Safeway has good online sales.
Thats why the launch in cities where people have ample money and lack time
