The Offer
Direct Link to offer (affiliate link here and below)
- Amazon is selling a Microsoft 365 (12 month Microsoft Office subscription for one user) for $49.99.
- Also available: Microsoft 365 Family (12 month Microsoft Office subscription for 6 users) for $69.99.
The regular price on Microsoft is $99.99 for the Family plan. Here’s another Amazon link for a slightly different deal.
Our Verdict
This is always a popular deal when it comes around. It used to be called Microsoft Office and now is rebranded to Microsoft 365 Family and Microsoft 365 Personal. We have seen better deals in the past, but this is still overall a solid buy.

Yeah, I'd be careful with this one. Instead of extending my existing one through Amazon it added a separate one. When I called in they somehow cancelled both. Now I'm not really sure what is going on since nothing is in my subscriptions on Amazon. I guess I'll find out when it was initially supposed to expire?
Hold on to the redemption key/activation until your current subscription expires. When it expires, activate the new one with your account. I have switched between Dell, Costco and Amazon depending on the deal.
Sometimes Dell and Costco offer 15 month subscriptions for the price of 12 month.
Some say waiting isn't necessary anymore, but when I switched from Amazon to Dell that was the method that seemed to work for me.
Just find someone from Microsoft... MS Employees get family plan for $20 a year and personal for $14. They can also give almost unlimited f&f access to this price
Google "Microsoft 365 workplace discount," enter your work email, and you will get the same deal ($49.99 & $69.99) directly from Microsoft.com. And this deal is available all year long. Plus, you can stack with the Amex offers and get cash back.
Nice, bought it, activated and extended my current subscription by another year.
Last prime day I couldn't figure out how to extend my existing subscription, so I had to ask Jeff Bezos for a refund.
Damn no wonder i got laid off today from M365 team :/
You can buy a lifetime code for like $15-25 on stack social or Groupon. Usually older versions. I've seen 2016, 2019, and 2021. Just activate and disable auto updates. Office hasn't added anything meaningful for a while. Even older versions are good enough for 99%.
That is fine if you just want the software. The real cost of the subscription is the cloud storage.
I think I got a year of 365 personal and Nord VPN with Stack for like $36 this spring. Would recommend.
Was going to purchase, but went to Amazon and sorted the reviews by newest first. Nothing but 1star reviews due to various issues. I’m going g to pass unfortunately.
I just bought it and have once a while ago about 2 years ago. My current subscriptions ends in March of 2025. After the purchase today, it now shows extended until March of 2026. Worked perfectly just like before. I can only speak to extending it, now buying as a brand new user.
Or If I canceled it will it still available to use until expired? Debating if I should go get office 2021 instead I know it’s different
Does anyone know how this works if you renew early? I did an Amazon deal last December. I’d lock in this price now, but I don’t want to lose two months of my existing subscription.
I concur what Josh said. I didn't know so to be safe I was going to wait until Oct 11 to allow the old one to finish, but I see now that isn't necessary. I went ahead and activated my subscription which was set to expire Oct 11 2024 and now new expiration is Oct 11 2025.
My current subscriptions ends in March of 2025. After the purchase today, it now shows extended until March of 2026. Worked perfectly just like before. I had logged into the Microsoft website first, then purchased from Amazon and activated immediately. I don"t know all this talk about waiting and then canceling but just sharing my own experience that you don't need to do all that.
I think these codes just add a year to your existing expiration.
Don't activate the new one until the old one expires? Amazing subscription allows to cancel on the last day.
If they're from the same provider you should be able to extend the current subscription. If you're switching providers (i.e. bought from Amazon one year, than Dell another) let it expire and then activate from your new provider.
I would recommend waiting for Newegg offers: 15 months M365 Family + 1 year VPN for $70. That's $4.67/month for 1 TB cloud storage + the office apps.
This is the way. I don't remember the details but a few years ago I ended up with 5 years of 365 family and paid less than $100. I only just recently have been resorting to amex/citi/chase offers.
