The Offer
Direct Link to offer (affiliate link here and below)
- Amazon is offering Prime members 6% cashback on their credit card when shopping at Amazon and Whole Foods on Prime Day, July 11-12, 2023.
- Amazon credit cardholders also get an extra 5%-20% back on select items: 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%
Our Verdict
You can easily reload your Amazon balance at the 6% rate on July 11-12 to juice up earnings a bit. Prime members always earn 5% at Amazon and Whole Foods on the card. I believe this 6% promo works with both the Chase and Synchrony versions of the credit card.
We’ll add this to our main Prime Day page (constantly updated). Separately, Prime members can also get an instant $200 signup bonus on the Prime Visa card now.

If you make a purchase as subscribe & save while the system is offering 6% but the shipment date isn't until a week later, i.e. the system won't charge your credit card for a few days, will you still get the 6% cash back?
Is this the first year they're doing this? Kinda nice to have 2% extra
You can use a U.S Bank Shooper Cash Rewards card for 6% cash back on Amazon too.
Any day not just on Prime Day. Big deal

You'd have to spend $9.5k/y on this card at your 6% merchant to recoup the AF with the extra 1% it gets over the Amazon cards. Which is impossible since you're capped at $1.5k spend per quarter. This card is less than useless
Saw the Chase landing page that's linked to. I hold the other two Prime cards (AMEX Biz and Synchrony), no mention of the elevated bonuses for these two cards and no interest in wasting a 5/24 slot on the Chase card with a MDD planned for later this year. I didn't see any related landing page for the non-Chase Prime cards.
The Chase card wasn't 5/24 sensitive for me
if I load up gift card to my balance and then get shut down by amazon, will my balance be taken over by the Bezos's?
They've done it to me.
Why did they shut down your account?
Does this include the Amazon Business AMEX too?
No it never does
