I realize this is old news for a lot of readers, but on August 6th American Express added Aer Lingus as a transfer partner. American Express’ transfer partner list now looks as follows:
American Express Membership Rewards Transfer Partners | |||
---|---|---|---|
Airline Partners (1:1 Unless Otherwise Noted) | |||
Delta SkyMiles | AeroMexico Club Premier (1:1) | Air Canada Aeroplan | KLM/AirFrane Flying Blue |
Alitalia MilleMiglia Club | ANA | Asia Miles | British Airways Avios |
Emirates | EL AL Israel Airlines (50:1) | Frontier | Hawaiian Airlines |
Iberia Plus | jetBlue (1.25:1) | Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer | Qantas |
Virgin atlantic flying club | Etihad | Aer Lingus | Avianca Lifemiles |
Hotel Partners (1:1 unless otherwise noted) | |||
Choice Privileges | Hilton Hhonors (1:2) | Marriott (1:1) |
Aer Lingus will transfer at a rate of 1:1. It’s not exactly the most exciting travel partner given that British Airways is already a transfer partner and they are both owned by IAG. It’s also possible to transfer between British Airways, Iberia Plus & Aer Lingus although there is some difficultly and restrictions in doing so. IAG has also signaled that these will be rolled into a single program at some time in the future. The last American Express transfer partner that was added was Etihad back in 2016. Unfortunately this time there is no transfer bonus to celebrate Aer Lingus being added.

I don't see any place on my account to transfer Aer Lingus. Where are you guys seeing this? Also, Frontier and Virgin America are no longer part of AMEX MR transfer partners. Time for a little update on the page :)
Do they have the same crazy fuel surcharges that British Airways does? If so I would say pretty worthless transfer partner.
Considering the charges stem mainly from going through Heathrow, probably not.
I would assume Marriott/SPG transfers are now 1:1?
