Looks like this offer is now officially dead a day early.

The Offer

  • Receive 150,000 American Express membership rewards points on the American Express Business Platinum Card after $20,000 in spend within 90 days (broken down as follows: 100,000 points after $10,000 in spend and another 50,000 points after an additional $5,000 in spend). To get this offer you need to do the following:
    • Call 1877-628-6736
    • Give the following offer code: L081-994-816-5743

As always, make sure you verify the spending requirements, bonus and get a reference number in case of any trouble.

  • Annual fee of $450 not waived

Our Verdict

This offer has been floating around for awhile (I posted about a similar offer on March 24th, but it had a lower minimum spend requirement) with people sharing it among themselves (and lots of readers sending it my way), Miles Per Day has also been giving away the code on his blog.

I’ve been pretty hesitant to post the offer code publicly as I didn’t want to kill the deal. Given that it’s due to expire on May 15th, I don’t think there is much harm in doing so but I’m sure some will disagree with me (it’s now also being shared on public forums). Obviously a $20,000 minimum spend requirement isn’t going to be achievable for most people, but there are other options:

It’s possible to get the sign up bonus on this card again if you’ve got it before, but you cannot have or had this card in the past 12 months. It’s also possible to get the bonus on this card if you’ve gotten the bonus on the Business gold card, as they are considered separate products.

  • My mom's account got this offer... 5k spend for 100k MR, then another 10k spend to get 50k MR... so total of 150k for 15k spend. Is the offer code reusable for me and my dad?

  • Was no longer valid when I called but the girl signed me up for the 100,000 offer "because it more matched my spending patterns". So the 100,000 is still going strong! I'd rather churn some execs with the extra $10,000 in spend anyhow....

    • It was due to die on the 15th anyway, I agree that I contributed it to dying early. But considering other codes are still working it's not a massive loss.

  • Got plat 100k bonus a couple months ago- pts posted today and order gift cards. Any idea if i should cancel to get 450 back? Or will i trigger a fr? If i do get black listed, how long does it last?

    • I wouldn't cancel to try and get the AF refunded, but that's up to you. I don't want to ruin my relationship with AmEx over $450 when I've already gotten a great deal.

  • I applied and was approved for the Amex PRG and Amex Delta Biz on 5/2. Do you know that rule for Amex on # of cards that can be applied for within a 30 day period?

  • When MMS posted it, death was inevitable. Although part of me is wondering if this isn't a trap for Amex to cull some MS'ers through financial reviews. At the very least, don't try to MS your way to the bonus the first month.

    • It's gonna be tough not to MS to meet the minimum spending...$20k is a lot....40 $500 gift cards...
