American Express Gold 50,000 Points Bonus Still Available Incognito; 40,000 via Referral

The newly launched American Express Gold card had an offer widely available via referral and incognito to get 50,000 points + 20% back on dining up to $100. As we shared publicly, the referral offer was slated to end – and ended – yesterday, January 9th.

  • You can still get the 50,000 points signup bonus incognito (link – open in private browsing).
  • The new referral offer is 40,000 points (plus, of course, the bonus to the referrer which can be up to 15,000 points).
  • The standard offer is for 35,000 points (link).

The $100 dining bonus has been dropped from all offers. The spend requirement remains the same at $2,000 for all offers.

We had ample warning on the referral offer ending, and I assume anyone who wanted this offer already got it, but it’s worth keeping tabs on this, regardless. Truthfully, the referral offer may be better for a lot of people, since you can get 15,000 points from the referral + 40,000 from the bonus which ends up at 55,000 total. Works for those who self-refer, or those who have a spouse or whatnot to refer them.

Not sure why the referral bonus was only 10,000 rather than 15,000… does anyone know?

bonus not available if you had the Premier Rewards Gold Card is my understanding.

The link you’re telling us to open in incognito is an Amex link.

Anyhow, any idea on how long these elevated United Biz offers tend to last? I went for a CIU literally a couple of days ago. 🙁

Oh wow. That’s weird. United business showed 50K miles and the Hyatt showed the 60K bonus. I checked incognito, and it showed 75K miles United business and 50K Hyatt. I went back to the non-incognito, and it now showed 75 K United bus and 50K Hyatt.

I got approved but was grilled for 45 minutes, they looked at all my chase accounts and bank accounts and then had to be verified by fraud department who again grilled me for 30 Mins. Glad it ended on A positive note. But felt like being grilled in criminal court, WHEW😡

The 50k/2k or even 1k offer with AF waived before the revamp will truly be missed.

Wasn’t this latest offer better than that? The 15k points via referral, plus the $100 dining credit, are worth more than the $295 annual fee we paid as long as you value MR at 1.2 each which I’m sure most people here do… but it’s close, I grant you. Personally I gambled and waited till the revamp, figuring the new sign up wouldn’t be that much worse to make up for the triple dip of the airline credit I’d have given up by signing up in October, and luckily it worked out.

Except, now that this hobby has gone mainstream, all will be waiting for 50k at least and for the 20% dinning bonus to be reinstated before applying.

I doubt 20% dining will return..
It was a pretty good offer to boost the launch of this card but I’m not confident about its return

I see the 50,000 point offer regardless of whether am I in incognito or not and regardless of the link that I use. I think 50,000 points IS the standard offer.

Never thought of that, but yes you’re right. I’m on my work laptop and browsing through my company’s VPN.
