American Express OPEN Savings Replaced With ‘Do More Business’/AmEx Offers For Business

American Express officially ended the OPEN savings for business program today. If you’ve been following the blog then you’ll notice they also launched a number of lucrative American Express offers that were only targeted towards business cardholders:

It looks like these offers will replace the OPEN Savings program with American Express sending out e-mails stating as such:

Beginning June 1, American Express is bringing you the next evolution in business savings by adding a wider variety of relevant offers to Amex Offers for your business. With valuable offers from existing partners like FedEx to exciting new offers from Staples, Dell, and ExxonMobil™, you can take advantage of more opportunities to save 5%-10% or more on business expenses.

  • Any DPs on whether buying Amazon giftcards at Lowe's would work? Or are they giving the cash back after the offer ends?

  • Only Dell and Staples showing up in my account. Both useless as we don't staples in the town.

Exxon mobile offer would be wonderful.

  • I have a FedEx account and I get my bill every week. The offer terms says "Excludes invoiced shipments". I was getting excited, I don't think this offer will work for me...

    • Wow that's a real bummer. I was going to use it for that too. I only got 15% though. Does AMEX really think business owners pay the full price without discounts?

  • The Open Savings program was terrible and I never used it.
More Amex Offers are something I can use.

  • Where do you see these offers? I got the email, but cannot find a single offer?

    • Generally they don't do MR flavors when it's x% back, sometimes they will do a fixed value offer instead like they did recently for mobile payments.

    • You should be able to add all of these offers on all business cards (and employee cards) by using this link (it will prompt you to login if you aren't already logged in):

Doing so should make these offers show up under a separate tab in the AO view called "Do More Business."

Funnily enough, it appears that the same method works to get all of these offers (except FedEx) on all personal cards and AUs as well.

The unique presentation and marketing for these offers (especially as a pseudo-replacement for Amex OPEN) makes me suspect that these offers may not actually have an enrollment quota/cap.

      • Edit 2: Looks like only Dell and FedEx are left. I guess they did have enrollment quotas after all!

      • Awesome thank you. I had all of them on only one business card, my AU, but this allowed me to put it on the other two. I didn't even attempt to put them on the personal cards.

      • Edit: I would hold off on doing this for *personal* cards until more DPs roll in, because saving these offers appears to have broken the AO view for the personal cards that I saved them on.
Affected cards will show “Sorry about that! It doesn’t happen often, but offers are currently unavailable. Please try again later.” in the AO table, no matter what you do. You’ll see “Available (0)” and “Added to Card (0)” in the table tabs.

Business cards and personal cards where I did not save these offers were not affected. Clearly they were not intended to be saved on personal cards

        • Yes.

        • Thanks! I saved the link on my personal SPG from there. However, in the fine print it says only business cards are eligible. Also the credit back will show up within 90 days after 11/30/18, maybe this is their new retention plan to get cardholders to keep the card for 9 more months.
