Update 10/22/24: During the Q3 earnings call they stated:
We have already achieved our plan of refreshing 40 products globally this year, and we expect to do several more by year end.
I think it’s likely that the Business Platinum will be refreshed soon. Some reddit users found a new design image for the Business Platinum card, but as far as I know that is a placeholder but the html does show ‘<div role=”img” class=”dls-card-lg dls-card-tilt” style=”background-image:url(/content/dam/amex/us/credit-cards/features-benefits/Q32024-New-Card-Art/SBSPropLend’.
Original post: During the American Express earnings call today American Express’ CFO Christophe Le Caillec announced that they plan to complete 40 card refreshes globally this year.
In 2024, we expect to exit the year with some further momentum compared to the current growth supported by continued product innovation and our focus on premium value propositions. We currently have plans to refresh around 40 products globally next year.
Previously American Express has stated that it wants to refresh charge cards every 3-4 years. The last time the Platinum & Gold card had a major overhaul was 3-4 years ago I think we can expect those cards to be refreshed. This lines up with the Dell/Adobe and Indeed credits having a 2024 end date.

More and more coupon books for sure. I already cancelled 3 cards this year. One personal Platinum. One personal Gold. One business Platinum. Still get another set of them to cut next year. They are on retention now.
It is clearly AmEx strategy to do so. Those credit card suckers will certainly open wallet and jump on those cards. So they can wear Sakes ties and undies, eat Dunkin, ride Uber, eat Cheesecake Factory, drink Shake Shack, and go to Equinox to work out. Good life.
Sry not me. I live the life I like to live.
i find their rewards useless and they charge fees to transfer. and they ask for insane ammount to spend to get your once in your lifetime bonus. they used to be good loong time ago. hard pass
Have never paid fees to transfer MR points. Where were you transferring?
S/he might be talking about Delta, eg
They are not changing the design of the Business Platinum Charge Card. If you look at the link, they list the Bus Platinum Charge twice.
What exactly does "refresh" mean? I have some OBCash cards. Are they changing that? I guess nobody knows until the big day.
A card has a point earn rate in each of several categories of spending, such as airfare, hotels, rental cars, dining, groceries, gas, etc. A card might have a range of benefits and/or credits. And, of course, a card might have a particular annual fee.
A "refresh" is when the card issuer makes a substantial change in the items just mentioned. At Amex, any given card typically sees such an update every three to four years. At Amex, the points earn rates typically remain unchanged. It's the benefits and credits that usually change . . . with an increase in the card's annual fee.
Certain Amex cards are long overdue for an update. Whereas, cards like the Platinum and Gold (both personal and business) see updates regularly.
At Chase, the Sapphire cards are long overdue for updates. At a time, they were leading edge. Now, they are among the pack.
Best of luck.
A prettier card design maybe
Increase of AF by $100 and 1 complimentary French fries at McD per month.
What a complimentary fries WITHOUT requiring an order or minimum spend?
You're being way too generous here.
the e coli is a bonus!
Could be worse. Such as $200 off $1000 purchases at Saks Fifth. What a great deal! Exclusion applies.
In December, you will also get a free small soda.
Amex: hmmm…great idea! Everyone loves French fries!
More coupon cutting incoming along with AF increases. The new AMEX way ;(
More credits please!
How about $1 daily Uber credit? That's a whopping $365 value per year! More than half of your annual fee!
The refresh on the everyday is just not having it anymore?
It needs it so badly. I have had the everyday before but haven’t gotten preferred hoping for 50k sign up with some more perks for everyday…
I also saw that they are discounted so yeah likely no refresh..
Looking at the website source code, "Q32024-New-Card-Art/SBSPropLend.jpg" is also used for the SimplyCash Business Card and the Cash Rebate Credit Card. I believe the web developer selected the wrong image when updating this page. I don't think the Business Platinum card would have this design.
To deal with potential hesitation, new applicants for the Business Platinum have been told the Dell credit is extended to 6/30/2025. The question is whether existing cardholders also receive the extension. If they squeeze in a refresh before 12/31, perhaps not.
Amex needs to rethink the $50k cap on the Blue Business Plus. In spite of being consumer cards, I'd rather use an uncapped Citi Double Cash or Capital One Venture over the BBP
And, our Everyday Preferred has moved to the sock drawer. Too much squeeze for too little juice.
