American Express Plenti Rewards Credit Card From Amex Review

American Express have officially launched their new rewards program called Plenti. As part of this launch, they’ve also introduced a new credit card called Plenti Rewards Credit Card From Amex. Let’s have an in depth look at this card in this full review.

What Credit Bureau Does American Express Pull For The Plenti Card?

The bureau that American Express will pull is dependent on what state you live in. I’d recommend using the credit boards credit pull database and then entering in American Express and the state you live in.

Rewards Program

This card earns Plenti points. On December 31st each year points that are at least two years old will expire.

Earning Rewards

This card earns 1 Plenti point for every $1 spent. If you want to earn additional Plenti points you can also present your Plenti rewards loyalty card (not this credit card) and receive points that way as well.

Sign Up Bonus

  • 2,500 points after you spend $250 within three months of opening the card.

Redeeming Your Rewards

Plenti points are worth 1¢ and can be redeemed at any of the participating partners listed below.

Our Verdict

This card absolute sucks, it basically earns 1% cash back and comes with a $25 sign up bonus. The only positive I can think of is that the card looks visually quite appealing and it comes with an EMV chip. You’d have to be absolutely out of your mind to apply for this card.

If you’re looking for a card that earns more than 1% cash back on all purchases, we’ve got a full list here. If you’re looking for a card that has a higher cash sign up bonus, we’ve got another list here.

American Express haven’t even executed this card well, if you shop at a participating partner you have to show your Plenti loyalty card as well. Why isn’t that information just automatically tied to your Plenti credit card? The only way I can see a lot of people signing up for this card is if the approval requirements are ridiculously low and even then there are secured credit cards with better rewards program than this.

This is another poor move by American Express in a recent string of poor decisions. I seriously hope that somebody didn’t put the right information on the website for this offer. At the very least you’d think it would earn at a higher rate at Plenti partners.

This card could be useful as a downgrade option as it has no annual fee, I like keeping non annual fee American Express cards open for Amex sycn offers and small business saturday.

We Recommend This Card For:

  • Nobody

We Don’t Recommend This Card For:

  • Everybody, seriously this card sucks.

  • Quit your bitching. You applied and accepted the Plenti card. Find a positive differentiation use for the card. Remember, an additional $5000 credit provides choice new frontiers and as a potential investment. Good Luck, Jeff (why does this message preclude the posting of my email?)

    • What are you talking about? I didn't apply for the card at all. This is a review.
