Amex Makes it Easier to Redeem Reward Dollars on Blue Cash Cards

American Express Blue Cash cards now allow exact redemptions, without requiring it to be a round $25 redemption. There still is a $25 minimum, but once you hit that threshold you can redeem the full amount without being limited to $25 increments.

I was able to cash out $65.31 just now:

This is a very welcome change. They also made the checkout process a bit easier by just requiring an email address, no card number/code.

  • Does this only work with the personal card? I can't seem to figured out how to redeem my points for cash on the business version.

  • Now if they only allowed you to combine CL, like Capital One allows. You could combine 2 cards CL's, then close the card, wait 30 days and apply for a new card.

  • That’s good! I took their servey about a month ago complaining about it. Now we need immediate posting of rewards and no minimum redemption.

  • Does anyone know if "Reward Dollars" can be combined across accounts? I have a BCP and was thinking of also applying for the no annual fee version but the Amex Chat Rep said that they would be two SEPARATE Reward Dollar accounts.

  • Status of my complaints about Amex Blue Cash Everyday:
    1. Delayed posting of rewards— Still not fixed
    2. $25 minimum redemption — Still not fixed
    3. Must redeem in $25 increments — Fixed

One down. Two to go. I closed my BCE a year ago in frustration. This one change represents progress, but not enough to get me to come back.

  • Amex is primarily staffed in India by phone reps who are barely intelligible and mostly clueless. It usually takes 7 or 8 inquiries to solve a minor problem. Today their website would sign me out each time I attempted to use my Mem Rewards.

    • Try the amex chat. Much better than for example BoA which has customer service based in the US but nonetheless terrible.

      • I also had to use Chrome to redeem. Firefox had blank progress bar show forever & never do anything (privacy features turned on). Amex should fix that as Firefox works for everything else without issue.
