Our Verdict
Walmart Grocery is a new service, available in select areas, which allows us to shop groceries online and subsequently drop by a Walmart location and have them delivered to the car. It’s only available in select areas.
$20 off $100 is a pretty good deal for groceries – Walmart typically has good prices. Main issue is whether that’s how you want to do your shopping, for the $20 discount it could be worth trying it out. (They don’t sell gift cards at Walmart Grocery.)
If this is your first time shopping at Walmart Grocery, be sure to use a Walmart Grocery referral for $10 off your first order – find one in the comments of this post. You can also leave your referral there by following the instructions outlined in that post.
A few other notes about Walmart Grocery:
- Prices match whatever you’d normally pay at that Walmart store
- Cold groceries are separated for you
- If an item is out of stock but you ordered it they will replace it with a higher value item for free
- Cashback portals don’t track on these purchases & items that priced by weight have prices adjusted at pick up
- You can’t pay with Walmart gift cards

Any idea when the transaction occurs - when you create the order or when you pick it up? Would like to pick up an order a few days after 9/30. Wondering if I could create an order 9/29 and pick up 10/2, or if it needs to be picked up 9/30 or before. Any datapoints
Walmart Grocery is NOT new unless there was just a slight title name change (It might have been called strictly Walmart Delivery originally).
I've had Walmart grocery delivery (person in Walmart truck brings to your home) available via grocery.walmart.com for 6 years (2011), and I believe pickup of your order has also been available a long time (at least several years).
The change I think you are seeing is that Walmart has started making a bigger push for grocery-related services by adding deliver to your car service, in addition to delivery and traditional standard pickup inside the store.
As far as this offer, this would apply to grocery delivery too, so a great deal.
Seems like a good deal on alcohol
Got this on my Blue Cash Everyday personal. Annoyingly, I just put in an order on a different card a few days ago with an intro $10 off that I could have stacked.
Got this on BCE, 0BC and HHonors hilton and all the AUs. None on biz cards and SPG.
I checked to see if VGCs are available at grocery.walmart.com and NO GO :(
I hope I can think of other merchandise to buy in line with MS.
Thanks Doc for the alert - 5/5 in my family, even on an SPG/Amex card we used the $10/50 deal last month. I actually really LIKED the Walmart on-line shopping experience -- far better than Kroger (sad to say)...
First, no fee for the service to mess with at WMT (at least not yet)
Second, you're not restricted to buying just groceries. (Last time, half my order was auto parts/fluids -- counted towards the $50, no problem)
Third, the interface is dramatically easier to use, nicely organized by category, than the Kroger klunker. (wherein you essentially need to type in whatever you remember you want)
Fourth, I really don't like shopping inside Walmart -- stores are monstrously huge. I'll get my exercise running through the woods, not walking back and forth inside a box store trying to find trivia.
Fifth, the Service at the parking lot at least for me was extraordinary. (My WMT putting really great personalities on this... at least here in Hoo'ville. By contrast, at the nearby Kroger, oh my.... lots of excuses, complaining, making us feel like we were being too fussy.... not well trained -- yet)
Prices ordinarily are much better with Kroger groceries than Walmart.... but the cool thing about shopping on line, I can do nearly instant comparison shopping -- and snatch the bargains where/when found at Wally World.
It was on my BCE, thanks doc!
I have used this card on walmart.com before but never on groceries.
Code WOWFRESH gives $10 off $50 purchase. I believe that code only works for first time buyers.
$10 runescape cards in the video games section, could probably resell and make a small profit but probably not worth it
Wow, runescape. Long time since i played that.
Got it only on 3 PRG cards with 2000 MR back after $100 purchase
