[Expired] Amex Offers: BP Gas App, Spend $25 & Get $10 or 1,000 Points

Deal has ended, view more BP deals by clicking here.

Update 9/25/20: Offer is back through December 31, 2020 (hat tip to reader SDubbs). Others are reporting a lower $5 version of the offer.

Offer is back through September 2, 2020. Added image below. Hat tip to Chase-ing UR points

The Offer

  • Get a one-time $10 statement credit by using your enrolled Card to make a single purchase of $25 or more at BP or Amoco using the BPme mobile app by 6/2/2020.
  • Others are seeing a similar offer for 1,000 points instead.

The Fine Print

  • Offer valid for automotive fuel purchases made in-app via the US BPme app at participating BP & Amoco US locations.
  • Participating locations can be found by using the BP Station finder within the BPme app.
  • In order to be eligible, you must first load your Card to the US BPme app using a compatible device.
  • Qualifying spend must be met after any BP Rewards are applied to an in-app purchase.
  • Excludes payments not made via the US BPme app, including online transactions, physical gift cards purchased in-store and online, physical location and customer service phone orders, convenience store purchases, car washes, garage/mechanic/repair services, restaurants at BP or Amoco stations, aviation and marine fuel, BP Motor Club, Aral and ampm purchases.

Our Verdict

$10 off $25 is a 40% discount which is terrific for gas (a lot of people value the points even higher than that), and the low $25 threshold also makes it feasible for those with small gas tanks. It does require downloading the app and adding your card(s) there. You should be able to save on cash offer and one points offer to be able to take advantage twice.

  • Has anyone got these credits successfully by using Amex via PayPal ?
Was wondering if this will stack with Dosh

  • Has anyone successfully gotten the offer to work with multiple transactions? With gas being kinda cheap and me owning tiny cars I don't think $25 is doable in one go.

    • Yes, my $5 credit finally went through (after doing it in 2 transactions). It took 14 calendar days after the 2nd transaction to show up in my account.

      • @BC did you receive any email from Amex after each of the transactions separately ?
Also did you use the card directly or through PayPal?

  • Was worried after reading all the comments about how difficult it is to get this to work but it connected to the pump before I even got out of the car. Now to make sure it tracks.

    • Appears to be the same with me. I had 2 BPme App transactions on 10/3 (totaling $25.01) that posted on 10/4, but the Amex Offer still hasn't switched over to the 'redeemed section' yet like it usually would by now. I wonder if Amex failed to change their system to recognize more than 1 transaction for this offer (as I believe all previous BPme offers had to be in only 1 transaction, but this offer is for "one or more" transactions). I contacted Amex via chat today and rep told me that I had to wait a minimum of 14 days after the post date before they will do anything about it.

  • I'm seeing $5 back on $25 spend.

    DETAILS

  • I have the offer on my AmEx.. but we live in Oregon.. and when I search Google Maps for BP stations in Portland.. it shows they are all "permanently closed" any ideas how to get the credit? Is there another way?

      • thanks dumbass you're such a genius to write that

edit: i was referring to other gas stations or shops that could trigger the credit obviously
i just bought a car recently for the first time.. i'm familiar with different gas brands or how that shit works

  • Missed out on the 10/25 Shell one last week. Made me really sad. Got 5/25 BP. This is a poor replacement. Even with the offer, I come out loser since Costco is $1/gal cheaper on premium. However I currently don’t have a Visa that gives a bonus on gas. With GetUpside, I will come out ahead.

  • I used it last time when it was $10 back on $25, now it’s only $5 back. BCE. And it’s only useful when I travel as there’s no BP within 45 minutes.
