[Expired] Amex Offers: Cable/Satellite TV, Spend $90 & Get $5/500 Points Back (Max $20/2,000)

The Offer

No direct link, check your Amex Offers

  • Get a $5 statement credit by using your enrolled Card to spend a minimum of $90+ in one or more transactions on your US cable or satellite TV bill made directly with the provider by 7/24/2020. Limit of 4 statement credits (total of $20). See terms.
  • Others got a similar offer for 500 points instead.

The Fine Print

  • Offer valid only on US bill payments for cable and satellite television services made directly with the provider.
  • Payments must be made directly with the provider online, via mobile app or by phone.
  • Payments made at service centers do not qualify. Payments for hardware, installation, and other services are excluded, if not bundled and charged with monthly service bill.
  • Excludes payments for satellite radio services and subscriptions with streaming television providers.

Our Verdict

It’s honestly not much given that you might be earning 5x Ultimate Rewards points on your cable/tv bills which is worth more than this. Still will be useful to some.

For my AMEX Bonvoy Brilliant Card, I see the below AMEX Offer available:

  • The platinum folks who disregarded the offer in general but have been making a $20 payment every month since May to get wireless credit, consider making an extra $30 payment in next 5 days, to get $5 off. Just did it, so thought of posting a reminder..

  • Anybody have the offer only work 3x? Just noticed recently that I got this offer so I did a transaction for $90 two days in a row and got two $5 credits a few days later.

I did it again a few days later and only one got credit for one of them. Debating if I should charge another $90 or call up AMEX. Terms says 90 days to post but doesn’t make sense because the first 3 posted within a few days.

    • An update for anyone wondering: The 4th credit took a few weeks to post but it did without needing to call up or anything.

  • @Chuck,

How do you figure the Chase Ink giving 5x is worth more than the 500 MR offer on $90?
    1) 500/90 = 5.55
    2) You get the regular MR from whatever card you have, so it's actually more like 6.5x-7.x
    3) Chase Ink at 5x on $90 = 450 UR.

You may value UR more than MR, but I think it's pretty hard to argue that 450 UR is worth more than 590 MR.

    Just my two cents.

  • Rather interesting that I got the 500 points offer with the every day card then the $5 offer with the free hilton card. I was able to add both offers to my cards.

  • Thanks. I had the offer on my Amex BCP. I did 4 separate charges above $90 various amounts and instantly received 4 confirmations from amex..

    • Hi, can you please share what company you use for cable? I got this offer too but hesitant to use it as I do not have cable, just ATT internet. Thanks!

  • Would this be in addition to the 1pt/$ standard spend? So $90 = 500+90pts? That's 6.5MR points/$ which is decent.

    • Anybody try paying Spectrum for WiFi (not cable or satellite)? Did your payment trigger an AmEx notification about having used this offer?

  • DP:
I had both of these offers and added both to same card:

"Spend $100 or more, get $5 back. Up to 4 times (total of $20). On your cell phone bill"
"Spend $90 or more, get $5 back. Up to 4 times (total of $20). Earn on your cable or satellite TV bill"

I paid my triple-play Verizon Fios bill: $102
Received only 1 confirmation email: " ... you just redeemed your Amex Offer at On your cell phone bill..."

Weird, it picked up cell phone offer out of the 2.
