Our Verdict

This is part of AmEx membership week. Should be able to stack with other AmEx offers as well, such as:

  • Is this "Transactions through third party payment processors are excluded" always the case? I thought I had a few times using paypal or Gpay and still got the offer credit. Just realized I messed this up using paypal on Dell. dang!!!!!

  • Ugh, even though my item shipped on the 18th, the charges didnt post until the 19th. Has anyone had any luck convincing amex to manually award credit when order was placed before offer deadline but posted after?

    • You should still receive the credit. My charged posted and shipped on the 19th and I got it today

      • Hi yes, I did get the credit!! I guess they fixed this common dell issue? or at least for this promo...

  • I decided to take the plunge for a little profit on a Garmin Forerunner 55 watch before the AMEX deal expired. Used it a half hour ago and I got the alert e-mail within 5-10 min.

    $199.99 before tax, which was 6% for me (tax pushes it over $200)
    -$50 split payment 1
    -$50 split payment 2
    =====
    $99.99 before tax on $199.99, which for me was 6%, so it becomes $111.99.

    Since this is brand new, eBay sales are going for $170-$190. I'll put it on the low end $170.

    $170 (to list with free ship)
    -14% fees
    ====
    $146.20
    -$8ish shipping?
    ====
    $138ish eBay profit
    -$111.99 cost
    ====
    $26ish profit

    Rakuten is 5% cash back, so that will be $10 of cash back.
    AMEX online shopping cash back is 3%, so that will be another $6.36.

    $26 + $10 + $6.36 = $42ish profit.

    I will initially list it on OfferUp for a couple days to see if I get a bite, try to sell it locally for $180 before going the eBay route.

  • Great my order got delayed into oblivion and won't get the $50.
    What a bunch of jokers. Will be calling to cancel.

    • Welcome to the AMEX Dell fan club!
      Because you are a valuable customer of both brands, you are invited to experience even more stress with Business Platinum.

  • Assuming I have the $200 from the Biz Plat, do I need to spend $300 to take advantage of both? Or is spending $250 sufficient (i.e., does the "spend $100 and get $50 credit" mean $50 needs to be coming out of my pocket or else they will claw back)?

    • Biz Plat $200 + $50 + Rakuten Successful DP:

      10/11/23 Spent $286.18 on Biz Plat in a single transaction on Dell.com via Rakuten (Subtotal $260.96, Environmental Fee $5.00, Tax $20.22)
      10/11/23 $26.10 Rakuten cashback posted
      10/13/23 $50 credit posted
      10/15/23 $200 credit posted

      I was too scared to spend less than $250 to answer @guest_1712536's question.

    • They used to enforce that. I haven't heard anything recently, and I'd guess spending $200 is enough to get $250 back, but always some risk. I imagine spending $250 would be even safer (i.e. without having to spend $300)

    • In past Dell stacks using Amex offers and the business platinum credit, I made sure that the total purchase is greater than the credit amounts. So in this case, a pretax total of at least $250 is what I’m going with, as the final cost with tax is around $270 for me. I think that $20 cushion should be ok, but YMMV since Amex can be moody at times.

  • Stacked this offer with the $200 Amex Biz Plat credit and ordered a JBL soundbar for my TV, which can also work as a music speaker via bluetooth connection to phone or tablet. Price is $249.99 + tax. Also stacked with 10% CB from Rakuten, which should payout $25. Basically a "free" mid-range soundbar with solid reviews.

  • Rakuten at 10% now at Dell as well.

    If you have multiple Amex CCs with offer attached and the purchase is $200 or more you can split 2 payments on Dell to get two $50 credits.

    Perfect timing as daughter wanted Bose QC45 headphones ($329) for her bday. Bought it with 2x Amex cards with offered attached since you can split payments on Dell. Net with taxes should be ~$221.60 (Includes 2x $50 Amex offers + $32.9 Rakuten CB).

    • Does anyone know/have DP if this will have risk of amex closure for combining different offers for 1 transaction?

      • This was using P1 CC and P2 CC. Now a days Amex won't let you have multiple offers on the same account. It shouldn't be risky. I have done these before. The other coupons or discounts like Rakuten shouldn't matter to Amex.

        • Separate login/AU should work. Also if you have an Amex Business Platinum be sure to load this offer to that card.

  • I decided to buy a PS5 for $499. Between my BP semiannual $200 credit and the offer $50 credit, plus the $100 dell.com gift card included in the purchase, I should be coming out pretty good when I resell the console.

  • I'm browsing for items around $100 here's what I found:
    Dell 24 Monitor - S2421HS. $139. Not the most high-end monitor but $50 off makes it very reasonable.

    Roku Streambar is $99.99. It's a soundbar and Roku streamer. Reviews are good and it's the only budget soundbar that supports Apple Airplay.

    JBL Live Free 2 TWS is $99.99. Good earbuds at that price point. Reviews say noise cancellation is very good.

    2 Chromecasts for $99. Not the best deal since retailers are selling 1 for $30 now. But if you're thinking of gifts a Chromecast is not bad.

    • JBL Flip 6 is on sale for $90. I bought two and a filler item split between two cards with the offer and got them for about $51 each.
