The Fine Print
- Offer valid only on physical or digital (eGift) Hotels.com gift cards purchased through US website hotels.com/giftcards.

Our Verdict
They usually offer $10/$50, this time it’s $20/$100. 20% is pretty good for Hotels.com gift cards.

FWIW both P1 and P2 were unable to buy the gift card. We got emails that that start with “Unable to Process Your e-Gift Card Order.”
Can hotels.com gift card be used on Expedia?
Is the gift card balance merge site broken again? https://hotels.jigsawbusinesssolutions.com/us/en-us/merge
After entering the card details, it shows the balance but does not offer any option to actually merge.
Worked for me 2 or 3 days ago. Are you by any chance blocking tracking in your browser or network? If so, that could prevent some actions from completing (because... tracking), or it's possible that a captcha pop-up isn't popping up. You could see the same behavior if you're trying to merge gift cards that have already been merged once before, I think. (There should be some text appearing to indicate that, if it's the case.)
Ah, looks like that card was previously merged. No error message indicating that was the problem though.
Cashstar would not let me buy a $100 digital card for some reason:
"We're sorry. We were unable to process your e-Gift Card order from Hotels.com."
Cashstar always canceled mine immediately, too. Contacting them just gets you "don't know why" and "can't do anything."
Hotels. com can't help, either.
Before anyone pulls the trigger on this, I want you to go to hotels.com and go to the checkout page for a hotel you are interested in booking. Do not sort by "accepts hotels.com gift cards." Hotels.com incorrectly shows bookings that do not accept gift cards even if you try to sort by this option.
You really need to click all the way through checkout to see if gift cards are allowed. I used my employer's employee recognition program points to buy a hotels.com gift card. I haven't been able to make use of the card because very few bookings allow me to use gift cards.
I would not buy a hotels.com gift card even if offered 50% back because they are so god damned useless.
I have it on my Green card. Does anyone know how would it stack with the Green card's 20% back on eligible travel and transit purchases?
Probably not. Sold by third party.
Of course they can offer better deals on gift cards now that they nerfed the program. So far during the conversion I lost a pending free night that they promise will be credited at some point in the future. Personally hotels.com has lost all appeal after the OneKey conversion.
I also have banked a free night and was half way for another when the conversion happened. I received credit equal to 1/10 of each qualifying stay in the new OneKey account.
This deal pops up every once in a while - if not at AmEx then at other institutions. I'll take 20%, thanks.
I've had problems with Hotels.com too, but they've been resolved in my favor after I followed the directions in the T&Cs regarding disputes, i.e. sent a certified letter to the Seattle address.
Don't count on resolution otherwise "at some point in the future."
Hi Doc, another Amex offers on my BCP card has Mint Mobile buy $45 or more get $25 back valid one time.
