Our Verdict

The multi-tab trick does not seem to be working on this one, so you’ll only be able to save it on one card. Save it on your SPG card for 6x points if you see it there.

If you see this on the SPG Luxury card that would work out well since the room rates would then be reimbursed under the $300 annual credit as well. So basically spend $500 and get $400 back ($100 + $300).

Another option is to try buying gift cards at the front desk. We have two data points from last time of this working to trigger the Amex credit, despite the terms stating otherwise. If this works out, it can be quite useful since Ritz gift cards can be used at all Marriott locations worldwide. From my experience in the past with Marriott hotels, front desks don’t always carry gift cards or the reps there don’t know always where to find them. Check out these comments from last time: 1, 2, 3.

  • Will a FHR booking trigger this offer? The terms and conditions say otherwise, but asking to see if anyone had an experience with this

    • it won't. i didn't fully read the terms and booked an airline ticket through their amextravel site (showed on statement as "doing business as Alaska Air") and need to be done on the actual Alaska site.

    • The Marriott $60 back Amex offer excludes the Ritz. From the terms:

      "Excludes the following brands: The Ritz-Carlton®, St. Regis®, EDITION®, The Luxury Collection, W® Hotels, Bulgari®, Sheraton®, Marriott Vacation Club®, Le Méridien®, Westin®, Design Hotels™, Tribute Portfolio®, Four Points® by Sheraton, Protea Hotels®, Aloft®, Marriott Executive Apartments®, Element® and Vistana™. "

I believe the other posters are referencing using their SPG Luxury card at the Ritz, which has an annual $300 reimbursement at Starwood/Marriott/Ritz properties. That would stack with the Ritz Amex offer.

    • Finally a Ritz! Was worried the Marriott $60 back excluded the Ritz.

Edit: I tried the multi-tab trick on this and only 2 cards can be added. The 3 card didn't work and gave me the offer does not exist error

  • I hope this will work for buying gift cards at the ritz with the SPG lux benifit. $500 marriott GC for $100 would be awesome

  • Multi tab not working but created new sign on for SPG Lux card have on both SPG Lux and regular SPG with my other Amex accounts.

    • @guest_636411 did you get it to stick on both spg and Lux under the same SSN? That would be surprising, even if they are in two logins.

      • Correct, verified its stuck BOTH on my SPG Lux (new sign in) and reg SPG (old sign in) so I should have it twice. Both personal accounts, same SSN.

  • Got it on my Amex SPG card :)
just to clarify do I have to book and stay at The Ritz-Carlton by 12/24/2018 or Can I can book by 12/24/2018 for a hotel stay later?
