Our Verdict

I’d have preferred to get this offer on my points cards since 2,500 points is worth $31.25 for me; but I only found it on my Cash cards so it’s just $25 off. Remaining cost is $20 + sales tax.

However, we can stack the deal to make it better. There are numerous signup bonus offers from Sam’s Club to get a free Sam’s e-gift card for signing up. Here are the best offers:

I especially like that this deal is can be done completely online. I just did the deal using a new email address to avoid any doubts about it being considered a continuation of an expired Sam’s membership on my regular email address.. So far there hasn’t been any instant confirmations, not from Amex about the offer credit, nor from Sam’s about the $20 referral bonus. Hopefully, it’s just a matter of time.

It might be a good idea to immediately turn off auto-renewal in your Sam’s login in case you forget next year. Once you have Sam’s membership, you’ll be able to take advantage of a different Amex Offer to get 5x points for in-club purchases until year’s end.

  • I got the $15 gift card almost immediately, but no sign of the $25 Amex offer after three weeks. Just called AMEX and was told by an offshore call center that I had to wait 90 days to get the credit. They could not explain why other offers get credited very quickly bu this one might take 3 months. They also seemed totally unfamiliar with this offer (I had to read them the POID code) and could not confirm this code was on my account, even though I saw it it clearly.

    Now I remember why I don't use Amex much anymore except for the occasional offer. Customer service has really been rock bottom the past few years.

    • Eventually did a chat online, at least this time they realized there was an issue and opened an investigation on it.

      • Did anything ever come out of the investigation? They opened an investigation and even "escalated" it on Jan 29th, but jack sh*t has happened. Worst Amex offer ever.

  • so it's been almost a month, and no one has gotten the referral credit $20? I think this was not legit at this point,unless someone says different I'm assuming that credit isn't coming at all.(?)

      I signed up for a new membership - 2 days ago - on 21st Jan - but i have NOT gotten the $25 Unidays gift card yet.

  • How long it is taking to get $20 gift card after opening the membership? I know $10 referal is coming in minutes but didn't get $20 for a day now

  • I used this on 1/3 but didn't get the credit. Chatted with CSR and they said there was some issue and made me send them my new membership email. I used the Unidays offer with it. I wonder if it screwed it up. They said to check back in 7 days

  • Anyone got the $20 referral egiftcard?
    I sent email using contact us on samsclub and they responded to contact them by calling , called them and after some wait a rep told me to wait till 12th Jan( 20 days from membership purchase date), she also said system showed gift card issued but might take some time.
    Today is 10th and so far nothing so wanted to check if anyone had success.

    • I followed up yesterday (01/18) by calling sams club on referral egiftcard,Initially she said it has to be 21 business days , but then I asked is there any way to check status on that- she looked up with my details and said it says completed, she created a ticket and said someone will reach out to me.
      Today(01/19) I see an email from sams for $25 egiftcard(not sure how it ended up to be $25 instead of promised $20 )

    • I'm over 20 days. I signed up the date of this post. I was gonna wait another week. Im still waiting for my GC too.

      • I emailed them yesterday using the "contact us" on thier website. Told them I didn't get my $20 egiftcard. Today, they emailed me the gift card. I guess that was a quick turnaround even though I had to ask them for it.

  • I had two sam's offers added to my card when i bought the membership with Uniday's deal last week. The $30-$15 credit posted today but $45-$25 offer is still in my added to card and no credit yet.

  • chatted with Amex, they said to wait- $25 finally posted ,maybe 6-7 days to post to acct- but where's the referral gc? I have no idea what that's even supposed to look like,and still waiting
