The Offer

  • Get a coupon for $50 off a $100 qualifying purchase when you are approved for a debit or credit REDcard in-stores and at Target.com, valid from June 7th until June 20th, 2020

Our Verdict

Previous offers can be viewed here. $50 off is a good deal, sometimes we see $40 off $40. This is obviously a bigger savings but minimum spend requirement is also much higher. Go through Swagbucks for an additional $4 back. There’s no hard pull for the debit card.

  • My red debt card was linked with a checking account I opened solely for bonus and promptly closed after. Will Target automatically close the debt card now the linked checking account no longer exists? Kind of don't want to call.

    • Automatically? No. If you want it closed, it looks like you'll either have to call or write. If all you want is to link it to a valid checking account, you can do that online.

  • This turned into a hassle. Offer was still showing. I didn't realize there was a debit option as I didn't want to waste a hard pull. so I went for the debit and was approved and got the card ... fast forward a week or so and no $50 off coupon. I called customer service and though it sounds like they will make some compensation, it should not be necessary to jump through these kind of hoops. If they made a mistake with the offer page, they can take it down sure but should honor the offer for anyone who signed up before they took it down!

    • I had the same issue, no coupon. I called and still no coupon. Too much of a problem so I cancelled card because I have other credit cards that work for me. Really disappointing.

  • FYI- this may have been pulled. It was advertised in last week's Weekly Ad, but it's not in this week's, when it was supposed to go-live. Also no signage in stores or on their site, including the RedCard page. Maybe they decided this wasn't the best time to run this promo. Would hold off on signing up.

  • Just a heads up, Target took the offer down for some reason. It was on the last page of their AD earlier online but they just took it down. Not sure if if it will be posted later tomorrow or in a week. I took a screenshot of the AD earlier but now that page from the AD is gone. Don't sign up until the AD is back up.

  • This feels like an obvious answer, but double checking to be super sure. Signing up for the debit card will of course not affect 5/24 status since it's bank account related, correct? I know it's no hard pull, but I'm so close to jeknf under 5724 that I'm just paranoid haha.

  • Is the offer supposed to show when you click on the direct offer link? As I am not seeing it and it is 7 June

  • unethical tip perhaps but you can use the coupon twice...in store ( they wont take it from you if you do self checkout) then the same day online.... if you can work out 2 separate 100$ ( one in store one online) purchases. Did this the last 2 times this deal was offered. Close the card shortly after purchases clear and open one again when these swing around

    • How is it unethical? I used the coupon in Mar for an order pickup and a month later, used it at self checkout in store. It doesn't have to be used same day.

        • Seriously. All these corporations do the same thing yet it's bad for us over $50. Nah.

      • I wonder what’s your opinion about MS, churning, price mistakes, stackable promotions, freebies, and this website in general is.

        • i have a variety of opinions on those varied topics.
but even the OP admits its unethical.

  • I don't see this offer when I follow the direct link. I also don't see this in my local ad (Kansas City area). Could this be a regional offer?
