Avianca LifeMiles To To Change Award Pricing For Flights Within U.S. (Maximum Cost Increasing From 12,500 To 13,500)

Avianca’s LifeMiles program has sent out an e-mail to loyalty members stating that as of July 15th, 2019 they will be modifying the amount of miles needed for flights within the United States operated by Star Alliance members. Flights will now start at 6,500 miles one way and will cost a maximum of 13,500 miles. Previously they started at 7,500 miles and capped at 12,500 miles. The fee will also move from a flat $25 fee to a variable fee of $10 to $25.

It’s difficult to know how bad (or good) this change is without being able to look at all the price changes.

  • my lifemiles account has stopped posting my lifemilea credit card grocery purchase bonus mile for 3 months. used to post 2 miles per credit card grocery dollar purchase, now only 1 mile per grocery dollar , even the credit card statement still shows 2 miles per grocery dollar.

  • Well the samples aren't bad anyway. And 1K miles either way isn't a big deal. I started sweating when I first saw the email though.

    • It could be more than 1k, just the maximum is increasing by 1k. You'd also expect them to cherry pick the examples

  • Seems like overall good, but I'm sure there's cases where it's not. Lowering the fee alone is nice.
