The Offer
- Axos Bank is offering a $300 bonus when you open a new Rewards Checking account when you use promo code RC300. Bonus you receive depends on your Total Qualifying Direct Deposit amount in 30-day Evaluation Period::
- $1,000 – $1,999, cash bonus $50
- $2,000 – $6,999, cash bonus $100
- $7,000 or more, cash bonus $300
The Fine Print

You must open your new Rewards Checking account and have qualifying direct deposit(s) see table below. Total Qualifying Direct Deposit amount in 30-day Evaluation Period
- You must have these deposit amounts within a single calendar month during the first three (3) calendar months your account is open, including the month in which your account was opened. Direct deposit funds must be new to bank from a third-party source (not originated from another Axos Bank brand account) to receive bonus credit. All eligible awards will be delivered to your Rewards Checking account within 30 days following the 90-day waiting period. Account must remain open for 180 days or an early closure fee of $150 may apply. A member may only qualify for one bonus tier and will not be eligible for future bonus payments if inflows subsequently increase beyond the 30-day Evaluation Period.
- All bank account bonuses are treated as income/interest and as such you have to pay taxes on them
Avoiding Fees
Monthly Fees
Neither of these accounts have a monthly fee.
Early Account Termination Fee
There is a $150 fee if the account is closed within 180 days of account opening.
Our Verdict
Previously this was a $100 bonus without a direct deposit requirement. There is also a $100 Axos business checking bonus. Not possible to stack this with the $20 referral bonus as that requires a different account. If you can meet the higher direct deposit requirements then this is definitely a better bonus. We will add this to our best bank bonus page.
A reader notes that this deal is stackable with the 4,000 Swagbucks offer or 6,800 on MyPoints which is worth a few dollars more.

Did you have to provide a selfie?
No selfie, but usually I apply on a desktop and if it asks for a selfie I just sit there and wait it out. Eventually, most applications will wait 5 or 10 minutes and then you see a pop up on the screen that lets you verify another way. Usually you can upload your drivers license and that works. I can't remember if I did that on this application, or if I was even asked for a selfie this time? ..... but I definitely didn't do a selfie. I have also had an account with Axos in the past.@guest_1824236
Are you sure that you applied for this bonus and not the other $300 bonus that was posted the other day?
I applied with chex frozen, then received an email asking me to unfreeze chex. I saw mixed DPs on how sensitive this bank was on Chex. Any recent DPs on chex-sensitivity? I am at 1/1, 2/2,8/3,14/6, 23/12, debating whether I should unfreeze and let them pull it.
I hope that you didn't apply for this bonus. This is the one with the $7K deposit requirement.
You are right, I just realized that I replied to an old post. I applied for the new promo.
Deal is back @2 https://www.axosbank.com/Personal/Checking/Rewards-Checking#
Got that here: https://www.doctorofcredit.com/axos-bank-300-checking-bonus-150/
This new offer was mentioned back in August but nobody in their right mind should consider it, even with the balance requirement now down to $7k instead of $15k.
Anyone that had an account in the past 12 months is not eligible.
"customers who have held primary ownership of an Axos Bank or Axos Bank for Nationwide checking account at any time in the past 12 months may be disqualified from the "AXOS300" offer. "
Opened account about a week ago. SB tracked no problem. Pushed $1600 from SoFi a couple days after account opening. Nothing posted yet, but under the "rewards" tab it does show that I've completed the DD requirement for the higher interest rate on the checking account. Terms say that it will be deposited within 60 days of completing the requirements.
I have actual DD lined up, but we'll see.
The $100 just posted with the SoFi push. I had a $500 real DD go into the account last week.
5/22/23 open with $0
6/7/23 transfer $1500 from Ally (coded ACH Credit - P2P Ally Bank)
Did anyone receive bonus when coded P2P?
did ALLy work for your bonus?
Called to close the account and the rep said there's no EFT for closing before 6 months. Not sure whether its true. Anyways, I am well past 6 months. I just transferred my funds to my external account. Need to wait for it to finish and then I can close the account through secure message. As others said, they'll charge $10 if they've to send a check for account closure.
The account will still be there but shows as closed. You can still browse everything as if it’s not closed. A little weird. Are you the same?
P1: opened early 9/2022; Cap1 push 7k by mid 9/2022; bonus posted early 1/2023. Also received 100 from RebatesMe
P2: opened mid 9/2022; Cap1 push 7k by late 9/2022; bonus posted early 1/2023. Also received 50 from SwagBucks
P3: same timeline as P1, but pushed from SoFi checking. 100 from RebatesMe
P4 same timeline as P2. 50 from SwagBucks
P5: same timeline as P2. This one got restricted, had to msg in license. 50 from Swagbucks.
P6: same timeline as P2. 50 from SwagBucks
All requested to be closed over ChatBot, which opens a ticket for you, about 2 biz days for the account to show as closed.
All also opened Axos Invest, I will drop a comment there with data.
Terrible bank from my experience, half of the attempt to transfer funds internally between checking and Invest doesn't happen, not sure if they do nightly maintenance and forgets about all the transfer requests.
Closed account today at my 6 month mark. Used Chat. Very easy. They charge $10 if they need to send you a paper check, but I had my account at 0.00.
Thanks to all DPs
Shocked! Opened the account 09/08, ACH'ed in funds in by 10/06 but meant to do extra DD to make sure they'd qualify. Forgot about it until everyone's posts saying they got the bonus. Waited a bit, didn't get the bonus, so threw them a secure message yesterday inquiring about it. Today they got back to me and I expected them to say DENIED but instead 3x$100 "Customer Service Courtesy" credits are pending in my account!
