Our Verdict
We previously saw a Value checking account bonus that was for $300, that was better than this offer as that account is easier to keep fee free. I personally wouldn’t do this bonus as people have had so many issues with UMB Bank in the past, I’d recommend reading the comments of this post to understand why.

They mailed me a 1099 for this for 2021.
I closed my account today on Day 91. Phone call wasn't too long at 12 minutes.
Thanks DoC+DPs
this one is churnable. I got the bonus for the last one in Sept. opened another and received bonus next business day after 4k push (to reach min balance) from Ally checking.
Exactly when did you open one? end of may 2021?
Any DP's around the auto-close scenario?
I fulfilled the requirements and received the bonus. I didn't send back the signature card after 30 days and they auto-closed my account. I called the rep to make sure they would mail me my funds ($250) that were left in the account and she confirmed they did.
Wonder if I'll get charged any fees? I have zero access to my account anymore.
Anyone else ran this scenario?
P2 select checking:
-opened late May online w/ $1k ACH transfer
-ACH $2k deposit early June
-$300 bonus paid 2 days after
-ACH pull entire balance next day
-statement cut @ 19 days, including $20 fee charged & refunded
...waiting for 30 days & no sig card returned
ETA: received one mailing & no less than three emails about returning the signature card or having the account close after 30 days, so I really hope they follow through with this threat
P2 received another mailing with a specific date in early July that the account will be closed without the signature card returned, which will be nearly 7 weeks from account opening, and just before the 2nd statement. We shall see...
I funded the $1000 using my local credit union on may 20. I transferred $2000 from my Charles schwab account that posted on 5/26. Received $300 bonus 5/27. Fastest bank bonus that I’ve ever received as far as I remember.
Applied but under review does it mean it will be denied ?
Denied maybe I just closed my old account waiting for next promotion opportunity
@guest_1174568 isn't it one time per customer? i.e. not churnable
I never got the promotion bonus just 150 referee bonus
Getting this error during the onboarding process. Unable to link my bank for initial deposit. Anyone else getting this error? I tried using Chrome and Firefox but no luck.

Not Authorized
Yes, I had similar issue tried 3 times each with 2 different banks and after the login via plaid, on the next step while adding funds, the deposit would not process and asks me to try another method.
Did you get this resolved. It says account was opened and showed the account number but I am worried if I do an external transfer for initial $1k deposit now or later, if it will count towards the bonus or not? Thanks!
My PLAId was causing issue on web browser so I tried it from Mobile and it worked. I was able to deposit money from my account to UMB
It wasn't the problem with plaid - I was able to login to my account via plaid and it redirected back to the funding selection page but after that when I enter the amount and execute, the funds do not get processed. Anyway, I will wait until I receive the letter in the mail and then push funds via ACH. By the way how do I avoid the first month service fee - do I have to deposit much more than $5k in order to meet the daily average balance?
We need to fulfil the balance requirements to avoid the fee. I deposited 1k + 4k ACH push from Ally total 5k now. This should fulfil the requirements for me.
@guest_1193459 @guest_1187971 I couldn't fund my account with Plaid either when I opened it. Account still opened, then I just did an ACH push from USAA. Counted as DD, got $300.
Thanks, I am waiting to get account opening letter in the mail and then I will push ACH. Since I opened in the middle of the month, do you know how I can avoid the monthly service fee? I have to deposit much more than $5k in the account?
My acct had a $0 balance at the 1 month mark. They charged me a monthly fee, then immediately made another transaction reversing it (monthly service fee waive). No NSF either. Not sure if this is common or just bc I had $0.00.
Happy to report that Fidelity worked for DD. Bonus posted about 10 days after account opening.
Opened on 5/10 with $1k. Transferred $2k from HMBradley 5/11. $300 bonus paid 5/12. Doesn't get any easier than that.
why isn't this on the best state specific checking account list? I don't see how this is worse than HSBC shenanigan's. Seems like most people are having an alright time with it.
where is the "best state specific checking account list"? That said, there isn't really anything "best" about this account, it is average or below in terms of overall experience - there are much better online account management features and customer support with other banks. It is ok to signup for as long as there is a signup bonus, and without the bonus there are better options with no balance requirements or fees.
