Picking A Partner

You can choose which team to pick and that one will show up on your card. The main reason you might care is because the affinity partner receives payment for card sign up’s and spend. Other than that, they are all the exact same.

Our Verdict

This offer is back again; it was up not long ago, but it was pulled recently and people were asking about it. Luckily, a new link was found by Reddit member platgold.

The standard offer on this card is $100 after $500 in spend and it also has gone up to $175. It’s not the best cash credit card sign up bonus, but it’s one of the better options. Another good thing is that Bank of America combines multiple applications into a single hard inquiry, you might want to consider the 30,000 mile + $100 bonus on the Alaska Airlines card. It’s also possible to eventually downgrade this card to a better balance rewards card and earn up to $120 per year, but this has been getting harder and harder to do in recent times.

Also bear in mind that if you have a BofA checking account, the signup bonus is actually $220 since you get a 10% relationship bonus.

  • FWIW. You can ‘issuer change’ the Bank of America Cash Rewards card from Visa to Mastercard. This is helpful as the Mastercard is known to work with more grocery/fuel rewards programs. I’ve recently submitted this change and was told it takes 2-4 weeks to complete.

It will wipe out any rewards you have accrued and terminate any special benefits the various branded Cash Rewards cards may give you.

  • I opened 10 accounts before they shut be down over the summer. Logged in late last week and noted 6 of my accounts were missing. Just called BoA this morning and confirmed they shut down 6 of my MLB credit cards. The regular customer support line was unable to access the contents of the letters as my accounts were "shut down and the letters sent by a different department."

I haven't used any of these cards for months, and I assume the terms allow them to do this. I'm just a bit surprised at the suddenness of it. Also, one of them still had a balance of $150 I was paying down (milking that 0% APR). They said my bill pay paying it set up with a different bank (HSBC, bonus churner...) would still pay it, but I'm skeptical. Anyone else have similar stories?

    • Early this morning I went to pay my bill and saw that one of my accounts was missing. I called and found out that it was closed and also wasn't given a reason why. I am pretty sure I had most, if not all, of my rewards left on that account. Will I be able to cash them out?

Did you redeem over $600 in CB in 2016? If so, did BAC send you a 1099?

  • I read the comments above by "NinjaX" about receiving a 1099-MISC if you redeem the cash back using a BoA relationship bonus (adding 10%-75%) potentially making the whole "Credit Card rebate plus relationship bonus" reportable on 1099-MISC. I have searched the internet and have not found any reference to this anywhere else.

Could anyone who has received a 1099-MISC (or any other tax form) from BoA, tell us precisely which types of cash back quantities were included on the 1099-MISC? Has anyone ever received a 1099-MISC for a Credit Card signup bonus or cash back? How about if the Credit Card signup bonus or cash back are redeemed such that some relationship bonus is added (e.g. BoA Preferred Rewards)? How about bonuses for opening checking/savings account or brokerage account? Also say whether these were on 1099-MISC, or a different form like 1099-INT, which has very different tax implications in some cases.

  • Don't apply for this card. I have a good Credit Score but still they rejected the application and with out any particular reason.

  • Is there any wait time between BoA credit card applications? I have applied an Alaska card in mid June, and I just find out this offer. I wonder whether I can apply for this card.

Also, do people usually apply for multiple cards in the same day? Just curious.

  • Got approved for two then the third one said pending I used Incognito for all I guess I should have switched it up

  • Got approved yesterday 6/27 for 3 cards each 15k limit. hopefully 1 hard pull. so if i apply 4th is there a chance to get 2nd hard pull? Also becoz of this 3 mlb cards, my existing boa limit reduced from 7500 CL to just 1000 cl. looks like they pulled the CL from my old card. I think my chances of getting 4th is slim or should i try for 4th?
