[Expired] Bank of America Amtrak Spending Offer – Earn 5x Points On All Purchases (4,000 Points Cap)

Deal has ended, view more Amtrak deals by clicking here.

Update 3/15/22: Deal will be back and valid until April 30.

The Offer

No direct link to offer, sent out via e-mail

  • Bank of America Amtrak cardholders are being offered 5x Amtrak points per $1 spent on all purchases until December 31st, 2021 (up to 4,000 points)

Our Verdict

Good deal but it’s a shame there is a cap on it. Previous years we’ve seen a smaller multiple but with no cap.

  • not targeted again! :(

I haven't put any spend recently on either of my amtrak cards...perhaps that's why? Last time that I was targeted was dec 2020, I believe...at that time I'm not sure if these 5x offers were targeted or not

  • Targeted again on my no-AF card. Note as before that’s it’s 5x total points per $1 spent, so for the Platinum card it’s +3 pts on Amtrak purchases and +4 pts everywhere else, up to 4000 bonus points. If you’re targeted on the World MC, it would be +2 pts on Amtrak, +3 pts on other qualifying travel, +4 pts everywhere else.

  • DP for future reference: the promo was advertised as 5x but the 4000 point cap was on the +4x bonus multiplier only, so max spend on this promo was $1000 not $800 as earlier assumed. Bonus points posted on 1/25/22.

  • I got it on the free card. I was confused by the categories language, they said it was 5x on things like gifts for Christmas and groceries but I guess that's them being cute. So, good, it's everything.

  • Targeted apparently. Have it on my BA amtrak card, but not on p2.... and yes, very dull to see the promo spending limit capped so low. (a paltry $800)

  • No email offer on my World MasterCard. Haven’t spent much on BOA lately. I’d love that offer; will max it out if it shows up.

    • Same. Annoying. I put very little spend on both, pretty much only for Amtrak food/drink after meeting MSR. I'd think that would make me targeted for spend incentivizers, but I guess not.
