  • Receive up to 65,000 Virgin Atlantic Flying Club miles when you sign up for the Virgin Atlantic World Elite MasterCard® credit card from Bank of America. Sign up bonus is broken down as follows:
    • 60,000 miles after $2,000 in spend within the first three months
    • 2,500 miles when you add an authorized user (up to a maximum of two, or a total of 5,000 miles)
  • There is also an anniversary bonus of 15,000 miles that has a spending requirement as well:
    • 7,500 miles if you spend $15,000 within the previous year
    • An additional 7,500 miles if you spend $25,000 within the previous year

The Fine Print

  • Annual fee of $90 is not waived
  • Earns 3x miles on all Virgin Atlantic purchases that are made directly
  • Earns 1.5x on all other purchases
  • Companion ticket when you spend $25,000 annually

Our Verdict

The normal increased offer is 75,000 miles, but requires $12,000 in spend. This is 10,000 less miles, but requires $10,000 less spend (keep in mind if you spent that $10,000 you’d also earn 15,000 miles from the $10,000 in spend as well). I think this offer is actually better for a lot of people due to the much lower minimum spend requirement, although most people don’t find Virgin Atlantic miles to be the most valuable.   • @2 @6 Bank of America Virgin Atlantic card is being auto-converted (to unlimited cash) in late October (not surprising with the announcement that synchrony was taking over). Some nice send-off incentives: the 15k anniversary bonus and companion pass/upgrade only requires $12500 spend (usually requires $25k). September statement is the last statement to earn tier points from the card though.

  • Does anyone know when the companion ticket posts and/or where it can be found on my virgin account. I spent the $25k and received the 15k annual bonus but the companion pass is nowhere to be found.

  • How long does it usually take for points to move to my virgin atlantic account? I remember it being real quick. However, this time around, it's been over a month since the payment period in which I reached 2k ended...

  • I noticed that the Virgin Atlantic and KLM credit cards no longer appear on the B of A website. Are those cards being discontinued just like Asiana credit card?

  • Also of note: The Virgin Atlantic card lets you spend your way to status with Virgin. Spend $2500 a month and get 25 tier credits, spend $5000 and you get 50 instead. 400 gets you Silver (so you could earn that entirely by spending alone), and 1000 gets you Gold. Only Gold gets you partner benefits (= roughly equivalent to SkyTeam Elite Plus when flying with Delta, or Star Gold when flying with Singapore or Air New Zealand, and Gold on Virgin Australia... whatever that's worth with them these days).

    • @guest_1269712 Do you know if the 50 tier points is per calendar month or per statement cycle? Looks like my statement is running from 7/26 - 8/25 and I'm wondering if spend at the end of July (next couple days) will count for spend in August or if I can get 100 tier points in this first statement cycle by making a $5k purchase end of July and another one in early August. Neither BoA nor VA seemed to know for sure. Thanks!
