- There is a Monthly Service Charge ranging from $10 to $20 depending on which business checking account you open. Visit your local branch or bankofthewest.com for ways to waive the Monthly Service Charge. All Accounts subject to Bank’s standard terms and conditions and fee schedules.

- Limit of one business checking bonus per business and per mailing address.
- Analyzed Business Checking excluded from this offer.
- If the business or other businesses located at the same address received any other business checking bonus from the Bank from 03/01/17 through 09/14/18, then no business at that address is eligible.
- All bank account bonuses are treated as income/interest and as such you have to pay taxes on them
Avoiding Fees
Monthly Fees
The easiest account to keep fee free is the classic business checking. This has a $10 monthly fee. This is waived if you do either of the following:
- a minimum daily balance of at least $3,000 in this account OR
- a combined average monthly balance of $6,000 in linked combined money market, savings or CD balances
Early Account Termination Fee
I’m not sure if there is any early account termination fee or not
Our Verdict
Ok, first thing is first. This bonus is NOT $1,250. The credit card bonus is always available and doesn’t require opening with the other products. The $500 bonus is actually $500 in savings for payment terminals. So really this is a $300 business checking bonus and that bonus requires merchant services. As we’ve said before, setting up merchant services is simply not worth it for these small bonuses. Normally I wouldn’t even post a crappy deal like this, but so many readers are getting caught by the $1,250 deal and wanting our opinion. Our opinion is that this deal sucks and you should avoid doing it. Because of that we won’t be adding it to the best business checking bonuses.

DoC continues to be the best rewards information source on the internet. I love this..."Normally I wouldn’t even post a crappy deal like this, but so many readers are getting caught by the $1,250 deal and wanting our opinion. Our opinion is that this deal sucks and you should avoid doing it". There's so much stale, un-opinionated junk on the internet. Anyway, love the site, intel, and recommendations. A big thank you -
"Ok, first thing is first. This bonus is NOT $1,250." THEN WHY DOES THE TITLE STATE THAT?
We also discuss why it's not really $1,250 in the title with the merchant services/credit card requirement
Because people keep sending me this bonus in, if I mark it as $300 in the title then when people search for it they won't find it.
Heh...yeah...I saw this one a few weeks back, thought to myself---why doesn't DoC have this one yet...read the fine print and realized it was shit so didn't send it :)
Why are you in all caps chill out bro.
The title states $1200, not $1250. Hence, bonus is NOT $1250.
Because that's how the bank is promoting it and is the is the context for how it's discussed elsewhere.
Bank of the West is one of the few in my state that I've actually never touched and I hit pretty much everything. Just heard some bad things about them. Not near a branch either or I'd churn them otherwise.
There’s one right next to running aces. Lost more than the bonus was worth on that trip, lol
also should be worth noting, this bank enforces the one per household, one account in last so many months as well as their debit card transaction rule for the personal accounts. Also, i couldnt fund with CC even though i followed all necessary precautions. these bonuses are crap, if you can even get them.
This deal sucks as does this bank. Dont mess with it
VERY inquiry sensitive fwiw
FYI, I called them about 2 months ago when the Business CC first came about advertised with bonus. I talked to an actual business loan officer on the phone (had to specifically request this). It seems that Sole Props report to Personal bureaus, and you need a certain revenue amount to qualify for a corporate account that won't report to personal bureaus. Hopefully this guy was wrong, but please post if you have a different experience.
another reason this bank is crap. not worth it
