[DEAD] Barclay Arrival+ 70,000 Point Sign Up Bonus, With Annual Fee Waived

Update 6/12/19: DEAD.

Update 6/11/19: Here’s a working link (ht readers Ron and YetAnotherRedditor)

Update 6/6/19: According to VFTW applications on this card are being pulled today, we saw something similar last year with the introduction of the Arrival Premier. This card and offer is rated #1 in our best credit card sign up bonus series, so I’d grab the bonus now if you’re at all interested.

Note: This bonus isn’t actually live yet. Looks like NerdWallet posted the deal early, I’m guessing we will see all links go live in an hour or two.

The Offer

Direct link to offer

  • Signup for the Barclay Arrival Plus World Elite Mastercard and get 70,000 bonus points after spending $5,000 within 90 days.
  • $89 annual fee is waived the first year.

Card Details

  • $89 annual fee, waived first year
  • No foreign transaction fee
  • Points are worth $.01 per point when redeemed for travel (which makes the 70k signup bonus worth $700)
  • Double points on all purchases (effective earning rate of 2.1% back on all purchases)
  • There’s also a 5% bonus after redeeming points (redeem 60,000 points and get 3,000 points bonus, for example)

Our Verdict

Advertisements showing this offer have appeared before and we speculated that this bonus was coming and now we finally have it.  This is the highest bonus we’ve seen on the card, but previous offers were 60,000 points after $3,000 in spend with the $89 annual fee waived.

This is an extra 10,000 points for the exact same requirements. Generally with Barclays as long as you’re approved you’ll get the bonus, it’s just getting approved that’s the issue. I’ll be adding this to our list of the best credit card bonuses.

IMPORTANT: Last we know, Barclay’s has a 6/24 rule on the Arrival+ card. It may not be a hard rule and it’s possible something changes since then, but it affected most people who tried applying last time around. It’s worth reading 26 Things You Should Know About Barclaycard Credit Cards before applying.

  • Anyone else got hit with an annual fee? I pretty much open on the last 3 days on 6/3/2019, and I just got hit with a annual fee of $89 for 6/30/2020.

Edit: My fault, I forgot that usually AF is hit once you get the credit card, and my first year was 'waived', and this is the start of the 2nd year. Hmm. I'll need to get my 10k points and bail out of this credit card so I can hopefully get some AF back (if possible).

    • Strange, my edit didn't come up.

I made a mistake thinking that the 1st year waived mean 2 year was free for some reason. The first AF usually hits on the first month that you get the CC, so 1st year waived mean you don't get hit with it until the full year (june 2020 in this case). I'll be trying to get my 10k points and redeem it for something (probably less than half value due to no traveling option/purchase) and close it within 45 days to get my AF fee back.

  • TL;DR - If declined, can apply again if credit score improves in a few months; they will honor the old bonus.

0/24 Applied but declined due to high balance on an Amex card (took advantage of the fee-free "Plan It" promotion).
Repeatedly HUCA reconsideration line and they are firm on the decision, even refused to relocate credit line from existing Barclays card.
The last representative was nice and informed me to apply again after paying down balance. She said application (though declined) will be in their system for another 2-3 months and they are willing to pull TU again and approve on the same terms (70k points) in the future.

    • I hope this answers your question. I was approved recently. They wouldn't allow me to set the cash advance to $0. Lowest they could set it was $1, which was the limit I ended up setting it to. Also, according to the rep, once I lowered it, he said I couldn't change it. Hope this help.

    • The link I shared was working for a full 4 days extra even after the offer was officially taken down by Barclays on 6/7 many people applied and got the card.

      • It's a joke. You're supposed to laugh. Also the top refers to the link coming in on 6/11 and closed 6/12.

  • Thank you, DoC, for the “working link” after first offer went down.

DP: Approval via recon with 7/24 (5 primary, 2 AU). Initially, hard no, even after asking that AU not be included in calculation, but approval after referencing existing relationship with issuer (other cards 3+ years).

  • Well I am glad we got full 4 days extra to put in an appplication and most got approved (either instantly or calling recon line) before they shut it down. Hooray to that and cheers to DoC, this site is a real treasure.

  • I'm over 6/24 and I applied this card two days ago (June 10) with the new link posted. App went to pending but was approved today (June 12) upon checking their application status website. I initially called into reconsideration yesterday (June 11), but they transferred me to an identity department to verify me, but the department was closed and told me to call back. Instead of calling back I checked my status and it was approved.
