I searched redemption options before, after and during the "promotion" period (October 26, 2023 and February 4, 2024) at 4 different California hotels: no difference/reduced amount of points. It is variable based on season but I could not detect any reduction at all.
Tested cities: Monterey, Santa Barbara, Carpinteria and SLO.
Caught hotel on doorsteps on Zion a couple years ago for 10k/night, excellent value for hotel quality and location
This sale gets worse and worse every year.
Just jumping in cause i only learned of it recently too:
Best western rewards points dont expire, and also they provide status match: https://www.bestwestern.com/en_US/best-western-rewards/status-match.html
I matched my IHG platnium status i had from my IHG credit card and got BW's highest tier. They also have a stay two nights before 11/20 get 5k points promo going on
How do you get Best Western points? I have every other kind of point.
It's a boring answer, but paid stays at their hotels and a couple of credit cards from FNBO.
I haven't looked at the credit cards that closely, but I'm pretty sure they're not worth signing up for. The points aren't worth that much, and we'd probably have heard someone say something positive about them if they were any good.
The no-AF card from FNBO is pretty dismal, a significantly worse earning rate on Best Western stays than the previous no-AF card from Barclays had. So although I have it (as a conversion from the previous card), I just use it rarely enough to avoid it being cancelled, because it's been so long on my credit report.
Hopefully Best Western will change banks again at some point in the future.
When I try to log in, enter my username and password and click Log in, the password field gets reset and complains that the password is required. Anyone else having this issue?
Yes, same here. It's been like that for months now. The workaround for me has just been to use the app instead, no login problems there.
went and checked a reservation that I booked a week ago.
instead of a discount, the price actually doubled
didn't realize BW had dynamic pricing for awards
