Big Savings on AT&T, Verizon, & Sprint Bills by Stacking these Amex Offers

There are two targeted Amex Offers ongoing until November 15, 2017:

What’s interesting is that multiple readers note being able to use the cable offer on a cellular bill with AT&T or Verizon. Or to use the cellular offer on their ATT or Verizon cable bill. So if you got just one of these, you can use them interchangeably.

Even more interesting is that if you got targeted with both offers on the same card, it should actually trigger both offer credits with a single transaction. We’ve seen data points both ways with people paying their cellular bills with AT&T  or Verizon and getting both credits, as well as people paying their internet bill (e.g. Verizon Fios) and getting both credits.

This double-dipping is specific to AT&T and Verizon who offer both cellular and cable services. Most other providers like T-Mobile, Sprint, Comcast, Time Warner, etc., will probably only work with the appropriate offer.

For the sake of completeness, let’s note that there are actually two other offers for cellular providers going on currently:

  • Hello everyone, I was looking all over the place to see if Verizon Wireless would trigger the Cable TV Amex offer. My bill was finally due and I made a payment of $100.01. Got the Amex offer right away!!! I have like 8 of these offers, what a day! :-)

    • That's great! For some reason my Verizon Wireless payment doesn't trigger it. How are you paying your bill? What does it show on your Amex login?

      • I just logged in to my verizon online and did three payments of $100.01, 100.02, and 100.00. It hasn't cleared yet but here is what it shows as pending:

Another quick note, I had the 10% back on cable with my wifes BCP, and her AU card from my OBC and BCE. I tried to do that for like $7.xx and I also got the triggering email. Was so excited, didn't see any DP that this indeed worked :-) Not sure if it matters, but I am on the old grandfathered Unlimited plans. Bill is around $307/monthly

        • $300 a month?! For cable and internet? We pay $44 for Charter including taxes and it's 115/12 speeds. $60 for both of our Cricket phones. What are you getting for that price? We don't have cable V or a home phone so we're saving a bunch there.

          • So that's just for your cell phones? No internet, cable. or home phone service? We only get 1gig of LTE with Cricket, but we've never used that much since we're mostly at home and my wife has fast wifi at work.

          • Yeah, and thats after my 23% school discount lol. I have 5 lines and 4 of them have the truly unlimited plan from way way back... I don't have wifi or anything at home, my wife and I just tether Verizon's LTE and it's quite fast! It's pretty funny when I have to watch the minute usage as we only have 1400 minutes to share! But at the same time, I literally have unlimited gigs of data, none of that slowing down after 22 stuff that they offer now.

  • My bill is never anywhere near $100, sooooo....would it be possible to overpay to trigger the offers?

  • Weird, I paid my verizon bill with my Hilton card that had both offers. Made 3 payments of $100, but only seemed to trigger one of the offers...only got $30 back

  • Maybe this is region specific for the coding? Im in arizona and had the cable offer only used my card to pay verizon wireless bill but didn't recieve the congrats email. Charge hasn't posted yet but since I didnt get instant email like everyone else Im not hopeful. Anyone else pay verizon cell phone and trigger cable offer in az?

    • Charge shows as "verizon wireless" and category is "communications - mobile telecom" anyone else see this coding and still got the email/credit?

  • I got both offers on my personal Everyday and new Blue cards. I used it to pay Charter bundle.

  • Can confirm, got both offers on BCP. Made $101 payment to Verizon to pay my internet bill, triggered both offers.

  • Split AT&T cell phone bill into two separate $100 amex payments, EDP and Hilton. Triggered both offers on both cards. Received 2 x 1000 membership rewards points for spending $100 on the EDP and 2 x $10 for spending $100 on the Hilton card.

    • Awesome! I didn't get any of these offers so I'm living vicariously through others. Way to make that work for you!

    • Oooh, that's a great data point! I'd assumed Sprint wouldn't work, but apparently I'm wrong. I'll update the post, thanks.

      • @Chuck: For my earlier data point, I paid two payments to AT&T, not Sprint. AT&T allows two different credit cards to make a payment so I split my cell phone payment into two separate $100 payments with two different Amex cards. Triggered both offers on both cards.

  • there's another amex offer exclusive for AT&T business. In the past if I remember correctly, personal payment triggers that as well.

    • Noted in the post. But I don't think anyone got all 3 on one card since these offers are on personal and the ATT are on business cards.

  • My one time payment of $100.01 to my Verizon cell phone bill triggered both the cell and cable service 1k MR offer on the second go around, but not the first or third time. Not sure the logic here. On all three payments, it did trigger the cell offer.
