BJ’s Wholesale Club: Giftcards On Sale (Hotels.com, Southwest & More) + 5% (Update) – Hotels.com Down To $85!!

Update 10/29/18: Hotels.com has been further reduced to $85 (previously $89.99) annoying for those that have already purchased but an even better deal than before. Don’t forget all the other ways to stack deals with Hotels.com. Hat tip to reader Lisa.

Update 10/28/18: We erroneously stated there was a limit of three gift cards that could be purchased. This is not accurate, no limit is enforced. Additionally it has been confirmed that these deals can be purchased with the current free membership.

The Offer

Online only, not available in club

The Fine Print

  • Limit of 3 per custoer No limit

Our Verdict

Keep in mind Chase Freedom & Discover it cardholders can get 5% back this quarter as well. Everybody should be able to access these deals even without membership (confirmed working).

  • Bj's near Roosevelt Field Mall and Valley Stream, NY and Whitestone, NY give out a lot of free food samples Wednesday to Sunday at around lunch time

  • WARNING: Thedrawback for the Hotels.com gift cards is that you can not use it for the discounted pre-pay rates so you may lose any discount you got by buying the card. OUCH

  • Some notable deals:
    2 X $25 Ruby Tuesday Gift Card $39.99
    $25 TGI Friday's Gift Card $19.99

  • SouthWest GC appears to be an ON-LINE ONLY deal. It rang up for $193.99 at a B&M Wholesale Club location (which is the normal discounted price).

  • Folks, BJ's open house (until 11/4) provides 3-month ""FREE"" membership trial.
$500 VGC at BJ's has no fee. Maximizing your Freedom and Discover there.

    • I assume you mean the membership to the club, not the VGC fee’s are free. I’ve heard mixed reports of $500 OV ringing up fee free. I went by last week to check and was charged a 5.95 fee like always. I’d try again but I’m working the Gold card till December for the 25k reset.

      • Nope, fee of regular Vanilla VGC ($5.95) is waived at checkout which I think all the time. Membership is 3-month for free.

        • @guest_664252 I’ll have the head back out, found someone who posted a picture and they weren’t the OV Vanilla in silver and black packaging. Would you mind posting a pic of the packaging you’re getting fee free on?

        • It's been a while since I've been there (maybe 6 months) but as of then they did not waive the $5.95 fee. So it might be related to the current non-membership promo, might be YMMV by store, or might be a newer system glitch (or possibly a permanent change for the better). Either way I'll be heading over there soon!

        • At the "proof" link posted above are images of the Promo Card BJ's is handing out to non-members during the Open House. Side 2 of the Promo Card has the T&C's for both the 3 month trial and the 12 month $25 membership. The 12 month membership T&C's state:

"**This offer is valid in-Club or online at BJs.com/OpenHouse only, may not be comined with other offers, is not redeemable for cash and is only good for new BJ's Inner Circle Members."

Since you said "We," that implies that you have multiple people under 1 membership (i.e. a PRIMARY member and an ADD-ON member). If you don't care about retaining your membership HISTORY, have the current ADD-ON member sign up for a new membership under the Open House promo (as the new PRIMARY member), either on-line or in-club, then add YOU as the ADD-ON member.

Bonus: After the new membership has been squared away, a few days/weeks later (but before your CURRENT membership expires in Dec), CANCEL that membership and request a refund of your membership fee (it's their policy to refund the membership fee upon request provided it's cancelled BEFORE that membership expires). You might be able to accomplish this cancellation & refund over the phone. If not, visit your local club's customer service desk and cancel there. ;-)

        • That's exactly what I was talking about. And they told me it's not "or". You still can get $25/yr after 3-month trial.

          • >> You still can get $25/yr after 3-month trial.

It depends on whether the $25 promotion continues after the end of the 3 month trial. The CSR I dealt w/ claimed that the current $25 promo expires on Nov 4th (i.e. expiration date of the Open House).

BJ's anyway offers various sign-up promotions throughout the year, sometimes directly, sometimes through Groupon / Living Social, so even if the $25 promo expires, another one should appear at some point.

  • I saw Domino's 3x$15 ($45 total) GCs for $34.99 at my Raleigh BJ's. That plus 5% Freedom cashback seemed like a really good deal but I took a pass this time around. Probably a YMMV but they had 5-10 units left when I visited a week ago. I'm guessing clearance pricing and not part of this promo??

Totally off topic but delicious: prosciutto fresh sliced in the deli was only $8/lb which is an incredibly good deal for the United States.
