Capital One has launched the Spark Cash Plus card with a $1,000 bonus. Bonus is broken down as follows:
- $500 once you spend $5,000 in the first three months
- An additional $500 once you spend $50,000 in the first six months
Interestingly before the card was even launched there was a $1,200 offer. The card has the following benefits:
- $150 annual fee not waived
- Card earns 2% cash back on all purchases
- Earn an annual $200 cash bonus every year you spend $200,000 or more
Personally I’d recommend waiting for a bigger bonus to return.

Real questions:
- Does it report to personal CRAs?
- Does Spark Cash Select also report?
Interesting:
Pay-in-Full Card
There's no APR because your balance is due in full every month. Otherwise, you'll be charged a 2.99% monthly late fee.
NO PRESET SPEND LIMIT
Spark 2% Cash Plus adapts to your needs based on spending behavior, payment history and credit profile.
Seems kind of wild for a card with an annual fee...
Seems like a charge card from amex which all have annual fees.
Much bigger penalty for not paying the balance off though.
From Amex, I mean. Which I probably did not need to specify. Or even mention.
Because, like, I don't think anyone is about to assume that any fee associated with Amex references the number 2.99 in any capacity.
Unless it's describing an additional charge as "2.99x the amount past due" or notifying someone of a clawback for the $2.99 they saved using an offer that was "reviewed to have been granted erroneously".
Nor can we forget the resultant 2.99% increase in monthy APR for balances carried; in addition to the 2.99 (we can round up to 3, I think) nights at the hotel you booked (platinum) that they "just wanted to let you know" will not be getting 5x points because you forgot to inform them - by certified mail, with a notarized copy of a confirmation and a receipt - that the room you booked through their travel website had been booked through their travel website.
Finally, you'll be charged a $2.99 handling fee for "every letter you recieve from or send to the company".
And in blue, size 2.99 font, on a blue background, at the bottom of the notification, another statement can't possibly go unnoticed: "the term 'letters' may now include all electronic mailpieces, charged on a per page basis and regardless of content, purpose, or a customer's desire to recieve" as long as they are relevant/related to "accounts, disputes, inquiries, compliments/concerns, and/or other subjects we determine necessary - including, but not limited to, anything".
2.99 is also the minimum number of email alerts you will now recieve when any transaction occurs involving your card.
If you have an issue with any of the changes listed above, good luck with your Chase applications. I think we all know we're a bit overdue for something resembling this:
"Our system had a totes random glitch that initiated 2.99 hard pulls on your credit. We dont know how to fix it yet, so it'll probably happen every 2.99 months or so until you pay the $2.99 balance on that one card you liked that we discontinued abruptly. We can't help, of course, because you never connected it to your online account. We are aware you mentioned having lost it 2.99 years ago, and our records suggest you were told that we fersure def cancelled it when you made the request; however, a "self-initiated transparency review" we conducted revealed an unfortunate error (that we admit no wrongdoing in regard to): 2.99 of every 2.99299 customer requests over the past 2.99 decades somehow got accidentally forwarded to the sanitation department. Under the label 'trash'. Oops lol. No idea why. Sorry!
American Express offers its deepest condolences for your hardships (though not attributable to us) and would like to generously gift to you a statement credit for an amount totaling $2.99* because we care so gosh darn much."
*Statemtent credit amount subject to change without notice and retroactively. Only applies to qualifying transactions limited to whatever arbitrary conditions we list in an undisclosed location on our website that may or may not change on a daily basis. Offer expires exactly one day before your receipt of this letter
nice rant but how the heck do you have patience to type so much?
are you out of your mind?
How many Capital One Credit Cards can one person have?
I already have 4 Capital One personal Credit Cards, 2 of them are Quicksilver.
Can I jump for this offer?
Thank you very much!
per the terms. You are not qualified to apply if the following statements are true:
I have applied for a Capital One credit card 2 or more times in the last 30 days.
I have 5 or more open credit card accounts with Capital One.
So based on your assessment of your relationship, it sounds like you are potenially eligible.
I think my favorite "benefit" is that the $150 annual fee is not waived...
I can't deal with there being no headers and in-page navigation to "Our Verdict". I might be on the verge of a panic attack, check back with me later.
I value one hard enquiry at $500 cashback. This 3x enquiry with $150 fee that reports to personal C report!!! Nah I a out.
I value one hard pull at about $5. When you’ve had as many as I’ve had they lose value quickly.
If youre considering capital one business cards, thr Spark cash select and the 2x miles are both bettter options.
The only reason anyone would care is that if it follows the path of the Spark Cash it replaces, it will be the only Cap1 biz card that does not show on your personal credit report and therefore does not count towards 5/24.
But they do report to personal creeditbureau i believe, unlike this one.
is that confirmed?
1.8% return. I assume that is in addition to the regular 2% return???
$360 net after a $5k spend? Just put the money in your IRA instead
I think it would be $450 net after 5,000 spend. 100 (2% of $5,000) + 500 (bonus) - 150 (fee) = $450 which is a 9% return on $5,000 spend. Not bad but there are also other good options if you have those available.
oops, you're right - added $10 instead of $100. Yikes.
You’d have better odds of winning $1000 with scratch tickets.
At the cost of $55k? Not sure that makes sense.
@guest_1241814 I was referring to the odds of an approval from Capital One, which are slim.
Ahh! I'm dense. Thanks 😊
