Capital One Points Are Now Redeemable on Amazon with Shop-With-Points (1:1 for many cards)

Update 12/14/19: This is now live. I’d recommend waiting until Capital One offers a discount for using this feature before linking your card.

[Updated with redemption value, below.]

Capital One points will soon join the Amazon Shop-With-Points program.

Find more information here. (affiliate link)

The following cards will be eligible: Venture, VentureOne, Quicksilver, QuicksilverOne, Savor, SavorOne, Spark Miles, Spark Miles Select, Spark Cash, Spark Cash Select, Spark Classic, and Journey Student.

We’ve clarified with Capital One that the redemption value with be 1 cent per point for cards which earn cashback and 125 points equals a dollar for cards which earn points.

Redeeming the cashback directly or using points for cashback or  transfer partners makes more sense for savvy credit card users, but it’s nice to see the 1:1 value, regardless, as most banks offer less than that.

Hopefully we’ll see Shop-With-Points deals, similar to what we’ve seen consistently with all the other banks who partner with Amazon.

  • Amazon with Shop-With-Points (1:1 for many cards)
Let us hope this incentive completion encourages Amazon and the other card issuers to do the same as it once was.

    • I've been looking to buy a new lighter laptop for traveling to replace my not-so-light one but don't feel the need to spend money just yet so I've been waiting for this.

      • Shop with points and lose your extended warranty for not paying in full with your card? I don't know what card you have but the premium cards have extended warranty. I'd hate to see you lose the extra warranty for some simple accounting error

        • Discover card no longer has extended warranty. Amex and Chase only has one year extended warranty with Amex offering two years if the manufactrer's warranty is also 2+ years. I don't have a Citi card any more.

  • Unless there's a shop-with-points promo (like we've seen with Amex, Chase, and Discover if I recall correctly), you should *never* purchase with points. Because in doing so, you lose out on earning the points/cashback you would have earned had you just made a regular CC purchase and simply redeemed the points as cashback or a statement credit. (Of course, if you have a means of redeeming the points at more than 1cpp, that makes the deal even worse absent a promo.)
