Our Verdict

Standard bonus is $100, it’s frequently increased to $150 or occasionally $200; I don’t think we’ve ever seen $250. Some people also like having a Quicksilver card as they offer various promotions such as: UberSpotifyhotels.com deal.

Bear in mind that Capital One pulls all three credit bureaus. At $250 on an easy $500 spend it might be something to consider, though you might be better off getting the Venture card with 60,000 points and then product changing it to this card instead. • Received an offer for $300 in my mailbox. Seems to be targeted as the public offer shows $200. SUB and APR offer the same as before.

    • I checked if I am preapproved and clicked apply from there, so there is no promotion. I got approved. Is there a way to add this promotion?
Is capital one kind enough for adding promotion to already approved application?

    • Interesting. I received a snail mail offer for $250 bonus on same $500 spend and they said "..this is our Best Offer" Those liars lol. Maybe I'll call them to see if they will give me the real best offer. I still might bite since this is still pretty easy $$.

      • LOL. My spouse got the same $250 offer the day before mine. The only difference between our two relationships at CapOne is that I have about 10K more money in my savings.

I wasn't intending on ever getting this card but it seems too good to pass up for only $500 spend. I can't get any more Chase cards for over 36 months so I can play around this year :)

  • I need some general feedback / advice on strategies with credit cards. I have a credit score of 800+. I have several cards that I have collected over the last 13 years or so.

It has been several years since I tried to apply for more than one card within a short period of time. So I just want some feedback on this. I just applied and was approved for a Cap One Quicksilver. I also wanted to apply for a Chase Freedom Flex and a Chase CSP (for 100k in branch).

I was thinking apply for the Chase Freedom Flex online. I already have two vanilla Freedom cards (several years old). Is it pretty easy to get the Freedom Flex considering I was just approved for a Cap One Quicksilver?

If I apply for the Flex now.. would it hurt my chances of applying for a CSP in branch about a month from now? I had a CSR two years ago (so it's been over 48 months).. and I have never had a CSP before. My CSR was downgraded to a Freedom after I met all the requirements. That's why I have two Vanilla Freedoms.

Basically, I'm just wondering about applying for Cap One Quicksilver, Chase Freedom Flex, and CSP within a short period of time? My number of inquiries is pretty low.. on credit reports it only lists 1 inquiry (the Cap One Quicksilver from a few days ago).

Let me know if this makes sense or any better offers right now. I kind of just like easy bonus and low spend.. but the CSP is handy too I think for travel.. and also because I have a lot of UR points just sitting there for a long time.

  • DP:
    2/2: applied for quicksilver (823 vant3.0, 822 fico9, 798 vant4, 820 fico8).

2/4: received letter--please fax or mail copies of driver's license, utility bill/bank statement, and SSN card.

faxed documents (including cap1 bank statement!). Not good enough.

Mailed documents (glossy 8x10 of DL!). Still not good enough.

Did cell phone scan/upload of DL. Finally accepted my ID.

2/27: approved for $10k (whew!). Welcome letter confirmed $250 SUB.

3/5: email--card is on the way, arrive by 3/11.

    3/18: received card...finally!

Good news is that I hit my $500 spend in one day, had the SUB Sunday morning.
