Capital One Spark Transitioning From Visa To Mastercard

Reader OG got an email from Capital One that their Capital One Spark business card is being changed over from Visa to Mastercard, with a new card coming in the mail which will have a new card number.

I assume that means all Spark cards are being transitioned over from Visa to Mastercard, let us know if you got notification of this as well.

  • For those interested- MasterCard Wireless phone insurance is a huge pain. I filed a claim after I absolutely destroyed my phone in a bike crash. It took 3 months of me checking in every few weeks before I actually got paid.

      • MC has way better exchange rate abroad. The spread is like 0.1-0.2% at MC vs. 0.4-0.8% at VISA. Might seem like a small difference but it really adds up if you spend a lot abroad.

        • Costco only takes VISA currently so anyone that shops there personal or business wont be able to with this card anymore. To add to this, I already have a citi double cash card which is Mastercard for 2%. It was nice having (1) mastercard and (1) visa 2%

  • I received the same email for my Spark Business. It also states the following new benefits are being added:
    -Cellular Wireless Telephone Protection
    -Mastercard ID Theft Protection

  • They changed it few months back for me. Will it change the account opening date effect credit history?

    • no.. you would get new car numbers if you card was compromised and you had to request a new one..

    • When you need a new account number due to fraud, I don’t believe that resets 5/24, because if so it seems like I have to get a new Capital One number every couple months...
